If you want an AR15A4, you have to be very careful/diligent during your purchase process because the online sellers are incorrectly using 'AR15A4' in their listings of the CR6700A4 20" 'Carbine' marked rifles. | My first AR was a Bushmaster Dissipator on 1994, just before the '94 AWB. Before sunset in '04, I sold it for profit, then started building my own since '04. This thread caused me to purchase my 2nd off the shelf AR from the link in OP's post. This will be my 1st Colt, and I'm looking forward to receiving it. |

Or maybe it was made not long after CZ took over and was getting settled in. If so, I have to wonder if the CZ era CR is of better fit and finish than the AR15A4. OTOH, the later CZ era CR may have more outsourced parts than the AR15A4. I don't know but am curious to know. No one has data to show the end product of the newer CR Colts are less reliable and durable than the earlier LE ones. |

With that said, Not quite sure what you are seeing. Current listing for the 20” at AU says right in the ad that it is a “carbine” marked lower. I am also not seeing photos of an AR15 marked lower, although the pics do looks like the markings are “m4 carbine”. I’m not sticking up for AU as they are notoriously bad for pictures. |

I bought one from Classic Arms about two weeks ago that was advertised and marked as an A4. They also had the the other variant in stock at the time and noted the the carbine marking in the description. The fit and finish on mine is superb. Functioned flawlessly with about 500 rounds through so far. Accurate if I do my part. Of course they're home builds, but what I consider better about them is that they are A4s built in a way more to my liking, so they are not exact clones. Most of the time when I describe them I'll usually say they are "clone-ish". 3 of them have A1 profile barrels, and while 1 of them does have a Colt A2 profile barrel, it has an A.R.M.S. #41 BLP folding front sight (which is the pin on version). |
