Recently picked up a DD5V4 and I cannot get it to cycle with my suppressor with the gas block in the suppressed position. Rifle runs fine unsuppressed but when I mount my suppressor it will not cycle the next round into the chamber. Thought it could be ammo related so I picked up two additional types of ammo but the issue is the same. Thought maybe it's short stroking so I reduced the buffer weight but it cycled way too fast which cause additional malfunctions. I tried increasing the buffer weight from H1 (factory) to H2, and this resulted in no extraction/ejection. I also tried H2 with the block set to the unsuppressed position. This resulted in the rifle cycling properly but it was clearly over gassed based on ejection pattern. I think my next step will be to pick up an H3 and leave the gas block in the unsuppressed setting and just roll with it not using the suppressed setting. Am I missing something? Anything else I should try? Ammo used was Saltech 7.62x51, PMC X Tac 7.62x51 and Winchester Lake City M80. Suppressor is Surefire SOCOM 762 Mini2 20 round Pmag |

New? how does it eject without the can in unsuppressed setting? FWIW my 16" had to go back to DD as it seemed to do minute of man groups no matter what ammo I used (think 7-8"). Came back to me and now does 1.5"ish with match ammo. I suspect new barrel but who knows as there was no info on what they did, only a test target. I'd document what it does in all modes with and without can and open a support ticket. They will take care of you |

I have a DD5V3 with a SOCOM 762 Mini and it cycles on the suppressed mode beautifully and is a very soft recoil impulse. I wonder if there is something wrong with your gas block. Joe will take care of you when he checks this on Monday. |

Suppressor is Surefire SOCOM 762 Mini2 20 round Pmag I own a DD5V3 16" with a Surefire SOCOM RC2 7.62 Mini as well. Sometimes, some of the loads I shoot are slightly underpowered, and I have had some FTFs on the suppressed setting. Full blown military 7.62x51 M80 like CBC has no issues. Some hunting loads and commercial M80, yes. The Surefire Mini 762 has less back pressure than the full length SOCOM 762 suppressor. With the longer barrel and longer dwell time of the 18" DD5V4 rifle, you may not always need the suppressed setting using the Surefire Mini 762 suppressor. That has been my own experience. Either way, our DD5s are a pleasure to shoot. |

| I added an H3 buffer and shot again on Saturday. No issues with gas block in the unsuppressed setting. With suppressor, ejection is in the 3-4 area. Without suppressor, it ejects in the 2-3 area. All three types of ammo mentioned in my first post cycled 100% with no malfunctions. This might be my solution as I can leave the gas block set and should be good to go for both suppressed and unsuppressed shooting. |
Agree with your plan. .308 is a very different animal compared to 5.56 NATO. .308 does not suffer the ejection pattern or "over gassing" issues running suppressed compared to 5.56 rifles, assuming the manufacturer set up the gas block, barrel port size relative to the barrel length appropriately. Think Knight's Armament and Wilson Combat as fine examples of 308 rifles that do not need adjustable gas blocks MOST of the time. Daniel Defense I think did a wonderful job though with their adjustable gas block. It is easy to adjust and gives us options for those with traditional high back pressure suppressors and a wide range of .308 loads to choose from.
