I have an AAC 51t flash hider that I freed from a friend’s pistol for him after he couldn’t remove it. I don’t have any AAC cans so I was hoping to sell it somewhere, but the teeth where the ratcheting mechanism interfaces are dinged up from said friend trying vise grips to remove before consulting me and my selection of “the right tools for the job”.
I do not want to sell this thing if it’s going to cause someone problems; I’d just trash it if it’s unusable. How much damage can the teeth sustain and still be functional? Thanks for any help you can provide.

It should be okay but the only real way to know is to throw a can on. A few teeth were broke on one of my t-51 mounts and it still works and locks up the same. The only real problem would be if there was damage to the teeth that lock the suppressor in place and prevented the can from locking up. Fortunately I didn’t have this issue. I hope this makes sense. By the looks of it, it should be fine. The teeth on mine were chewed up from a slipped wrench and broke off a few teeth. I about had a heart attack until I threw my van on and it still locked up the same. |
