I also have the Faxon 20" fluted 308 heavy barrel, rifle gas, and I'm using the Armalite AR-10 rifle gas tube with that one, same reasoning. I have both the 20" fluted heavy, earlier design, and also the later 20" fluted heavy match version. I also have the Faxon 20" medium tapered 308 barrel, not the Gunner, that one is also rifle-gas, and using the Armalite AR-10 rifle gas tube also. I get the Armalite gas tubes from either Armalite or Fulton. |
| I know that this is an old thread but bringing it back up might help someone's first build with Faxons 308 barrels. Faxon advertising states it's barrels are DPMS compatible and don't tell you that it uses Armalite length gas tube. After wading thru the threads about what works with what I found my rifle length gas tube short. I contacted Faxon and was told that the standard AR rifle length tube would work and I could use the Armalite tube if I wanted more engagment with the gas key. I went with an Armalite tube from Anderson to hopefully preclude any issues. I'll find out when it's finally together. |
