From PSA ig. Looking much better than the prototypes we've seen before. Much more 2021ish. The prototypes looked more square and bolted together. The charging handle looks more refined too. Good job psa. Attached File |

That BCG group looks interesting too. AKish. So not like a MCX or BRN-180. Something new....I like. Edit: We'll sort of new, I think the ARAK? was a long stroke gas piston, I think primary arms made some long stroke gas piston AR in the past, the SIG 556 guns. I feel like all of them never really made much of a impact. |

I just caught the viddy drop and thought I'd check in here. VERY EXCITING!! +1 for endurance testing -1 for "Truck Gun" +/- ??? for QA/QC? Will it improve? I'm most excited for the .300 BLK. I'd be interested in hearing more about the port size/ gas settings in the next vid. Why was everyone shooting the unbraced version? I saw a braced pistol on the table. Do you guys need an extra brace down there? |

At 1:50, Kris Vermillion said the testing for the JAKL won't be completed until the end of summer. |

Quoted: “Optimistically“ LOL, I guess “very soon” was just talking about the next step in the process. I love psa, but I’ve already moved on from the ps5 and now this and spent my money elsewhere. |
| PSA is really doing the right things IMO. A company that has come from strictly the AR world to designing their own weapon systems puts them in the possibility of elevating past alot of these other “boutique” and plentiful AR manufacturers. Not that designing new firearms puts you in elite status, cough cough.... Keltec..... But if PSA pulls off these efforts with good success they’ll really move forward and close the gap between them and Sig, Hk, Glock, etc. In order to be successful, they need time which unfortunately isn’t good for the impatient consumer and the current gun unfriendly administration. I still say, rushing it is the worst they can do. Delicate time for them to prove that they can play with the elite gun industry players. Im excited for them and amazed at the evolution of the company - especially for being just over a decade old. |
Here's a close look inside the JAKL from hank strange: ![]() Failed To Load Title Very exciting! |

Quoted: Here's a close look inside the JAKL from hank strange: Very exciting! 2-3 months to full production if no flaws. Mentioned initial pricing estimate were $700-$900 but refused to estimate current pricing. 5.56 initial run, .300 “shortly” after. |

Quoted: Wonder why they were shooting the pistol version vs the SBR. I would be like give me that SBR to test shoot. If I were to guess, they likely either didnt want to waste time making a SBR or two that will likely get destroyed1 from all the shooting that will happen, or that they figure the number of people that will SBR the complete kit will be significantly lower than the people that would just keep it a pistol, and thus decided to have it in pistol configuration so people get the most likely experience. 1I have no idea what the whole affair for NFA items for companies like PSA is, though, but still likely a waste of time and money. |

For an 07/02 FFL SOT it's no hassle and no money. My guess is they aren't selling it as an SBR so why demo it that way? |

In the Hank Strange video, Matt from PSA said that the JAKL will no longer be offered at the price they originally promised and that the barrel of the JAKL won’t be chrome lined as they originally said it would. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m starting to feel like Lando Calrissian. Edit: For those non-Star Wars fans, this is what I was referring to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D8TEJtQRhw |

That doesn’t look like it will work with my BRN-180 SBR lower. |

Chrome lining is over rated. |

Quoted: ...plus requiring a dedicated lower with the rubber bumper installed vs. figuring out a way to keep that in the upper. It's starting to sound very "Truck Gun" to me. How often do you swap lowers with uppers? I’ve got more lowers than I do uppers. What would it matter anyway? If you had a standard lower you’d have to remove the buffer tube from the lower to mate it with their previous design |
|
In PSAs defense, If someone was talking about using a BRN lower or a Sig lower to make with a Jakyl upper. PSA would have no way of controlling it their standards. If Sig made a slight change, which they often do, this could make it incompatible with Jakyl uppers. I think what PSA promised was that it would work with a standard mil spec lower, which according to the videos. It does. Now I could understand the appeal of having 2 uppers for an AR say a 300 and a 5.56. And you can swap out uppers on the fly. Then you see the Jakyl being teased. And you go "DANG! that thing is cool, I could buy an upper and throw it on my lower that I already got". Sometime later you see about this buffer/plug system that you need for the lower. And then you start to get disappointed because now, either you have to swap out the buffer tube every time you want to shoot the upper. . But even going back to the prototypes at shot, the buffer/plug system was always there. Youtube pic: Attached File TBH I'm still on the fence about buying one for myself (TBH i'd rather have a krink that they talked about) but I think people are getting upset over the wrong things. I think there's a lot of hearsay or simple misunderstandings. When they say "you can use your lower". That means different things to different people. |

I know the whole deal is "compact truck gun", and that means a pistol, but personally, I dont care for .300 blackout, or 5.56 AR pistols. Im hoping that they come out with the carbine versions not long after. My other alternative is a BRN-180, but I dont care for the looks or function (I like the forward set side-charging aspect of the JAKL, over the "Charging handle attached to bolt" of the 180). I cant think of too many, or any, 5.56/7.62x39 rifles that have a set up like that that arent around $2K. Plus, since most people may be wanting the pistol versions, the carbines may be in stock for more than five minutes when they finally come out.

Pretty sure you’ll have to buy a pistol kit and then buy a stock. |

Quoted: So you guys removed the brass deflector for us lefties but kept the ambi charging handle? I don't see a world where anyone cares about the charging handle being ambi if they get hit in the face with brass. Why would a lefty buy one? I stand corrected. The JAKL will have a brass deflector! I just spoke with engineering. Thank you, Josiah |

How often do you swap lowers with uppers? I’ve got more lowers than I do uppers. What would it matter anyway? Because in the United States, according to the BATFE, the lower is the control part, and thus serialized. That is the part that gets SBR'd. If you own more lowers than uppers, that would be incredibly odd. I have never heard someone say that, unless you are talking unbuilt lowers in a box on the shelf trying to price speculate. I think what PSA promised was that it would work with a standard mil spec lower, which according to the videos. It does. I don't think anyone is truly upset over it, but it will NOT function with a standard milspec lower... which is what we are talking about. JAKL requires proprietary mods. |

We’re you planning on running the jakl with a regular stock and buffer tube ? |

Quoted: I don't think anyone is truly upset over it, but it will NOT function with a standard milspec lower... which is what we are talking about. JAKL requires proprietary mods. what proprietary mods? They are still saying it will work with a standard lower. All you need is the buffer tube plug which will be included with the upper. |
|
Quoted: It does work with a standard mil-spec lower. I get that it's a standard part, prior to undergoing proprietary mods. Most people hear, "It does work with a standard mil-spec lower" and imagine that an M4 barrel gets twisted up in the Bradley turret and you say, "Hand me that "standard mil spec lower" (assembly), I will mount a... HK-416 upper, T-91 upper, BRN-180 upper, AR-57 upper, CMMG .22 upper, etc... If JAKL, you'll be breaking that stake and performing the proprietary mods before you blaze, after which it will be in a proprietary configuration. Which is fine! I'm just thinking one step ahead for someone who wants to use it on an existing SBR, or might be confused by that statement. |
