When you use the MIAD intergral trigger guard is the front held in with a roll pin or set screw?

You install it with a hex head set screw it should come with. It threads itself into the hole provided.

You hardly ever see the "standard" configuration....

To me, the largest configuration is more comfortable when running a carbine...especially on auto, but I like smaller grips on precision setups (I hold the grip differently).

Magpul should sell A.R.M.S. #23's on their website...

I had to dremel the upper part of the foreward grip instert to get it to fit with the #23.. It looks normal, but i made it to thin where my index finger lays.

I'm floored someone else has this setup....

I had a little issue fitting the pieces too, but with a little elbow grease I was able to spare the dremel. During one session, I did crack the rear fastener off the flat back piece though! I don't want to put on a full thumb backstrap piece like yours though - Even with gloves, I don't want to get my hand or sling caught in that void. I'm just gonna order antoher flat back piece and tape it on good.

It really is a nice system with two caveats, both ARMS negatives of coruse.
a) you can't just put it on and fasten like Larue, you gotta lever it on right to left as usual for ARMs and
b) that damn lever is too damn big. If you want to use your weak hand to activate a light or something like that, the lever is completely in the way. Even if I shaved it down a little the platform that supports the mechanism is huge.

it IS a great and comfrotable and true QD grip, but it's only a temptorary solution till TD and larue put something out together... I doubt larue will do a mount like this. no interest ans they already have the TD system worked out. It's gonna sell millions.

A recent issue of Small Arms Review magazine lists the MIAD as having a F3 variant that is a forward vertical grip. Other than your custom job, I do not recall having seen one.

The F3 is part of the MIAD full kit, you can then replace the a2 grip on the ARMS QD forward grip with a MIAD.
It is an extended frontstrap that extends up to cover the forward facing opening.

Wow. I guess I'm pretty slow: I never noticed little Magpul logos made up MIAD's grip texture- and I own one for pitty's sake. Very cool.

If yours is pre-production the texture is different.

They are quite comfortable. I left my backstrap unpinned until I messed with the grip enough to see which one I wanted. I originally thought I'd like the large one, but I ended up with the medium backstrap.

I just got my MIAD basic kit and installed it on my RRA lower. Has anyone noticed that there is a slight gap between the rear of the trigger guard and housing and the front portion of the upper grip? Mine has one and even with effort I can't get it to seat flush. If this is normal or if others have the same thing, my mind will be at ease. I'm just OCD sometimes. I'll try to get a pic posted.

sorry, i didnt write that very well. the full kit comes with a front strap to fill the gap so you can use it as a VFG. i was wondering if anyone has done this and have pics of it? how does it attach to your rail, or am i mis-understanding this?

Got one of these full kits for my CMMG lower and they really are the most comfortable grip I've tried, needless to say head and shoulder above the standard one.

Only thing is they are such a tight fit, I feel like I had to shave off a lot of plastic off the front adjustable strap. Even after the shaving it doesn't quite sit flush against the receiver, the rear thumb/grip portion is just off by the tiniest amount like in this picture:

Anyone have that come up on theirs?

edit - i got it, replaced the screw with the stock screw that came with my lpk and it's much better now
