(Also, interesting first post. I often wonder how many current members create alternate accounts just to get more than 1 entry into the contest. Not saying that this poster, specifically, was doing that. Just something I've thought about before.) Hmmmmm, never thought of that  I hadn't really thought about it before either, until a few months ago. I just happened to randomly check the #'s thread and saw a Team Member post a #, and then about a minute later, the next entry was from a non-Team Member who had only like 3 posts and a semi-recent join date. Just for shits-n-giggles, I checked a couple previous #'s threads, and the same Team Member was followed by the same non-Team Member, every time, within a few minutes of eachother's post. All of the non-Team Member's posts were in the contest threads. I can't remember either name, but I found it pretty odd.

i think its funny people dont even bother to read the rules... fucking numbers posted in the 3000s...
also, i post me LARUE Costa Edition #  so thats gotta count for something more relevant than "I always choose that random number".
And I was the first one to do so....

What's funnier to me is the people posting in the contest thread, asking, "WTF is with the numbers as responses?" I've come close to sending them an IM explaining WTF the UHFO is, rules, etc... Then I see about eleventeen more just like it, and I SMH and go do something else... EDIT: It's been called by ML, and he announced he'll post the list of the UHFO giveaway package and winning number tomorrow... |

If it's free and everybody has an equal chance of winning, it's a sweepstakes. On the other hand, if you require a payment of some kind it becomes a lottery, with much tighter regulation and general government butt-in-edness.

Many of us simply have watched for years and didn't have accounts of our own (used our parents accounts). Post count shouldn't be an indicator of having skin in the game or having interest. Just because I, for example, don't add inane drivel to a conversation doesn't mean I'm not watching  or participating.
Qualifications should be red-blooded gun toting God fearing American - that is all. my .02 ... of course .. I'm just justifying my low post count Just trying to point out there is another side to the coin - some of us with low post counts used our parents accounts for years.

Tona It's not so much the post count alone. Ya gotta start somewhere, right? But for a few members, only having a handful of posts, and all of them being in LaRue's monthly drawings is sorta brow-raising. But whatever. It's not my contest, and Mark has opened it to everyone, so be it. I still think it should be Team-only. Mark, I just figured out a way for you to keep it for Team members only, and not piss off the freebie leaches. Just post the contest in the Team section every month. They won't even know it, because they can't see it! Winning!

Tona It's not post count, it's more a January 2013 join date, non-team member, and their first post is in the UHFO drawing. It just makes you wonder if it's not somebody who's already a member trying to get another number in. I'm not worried about it though, the drawing is free to enter and the prize is awesome. How many other companies do a drawing like this every month? For free? I have good faith that Mark knows what he's doing, and that anyone who does try to cheat in this contest should die alone. None of us have any skin in this contest because it didn't cost any of us an entry fee, so it's not really worth worrying about. |
