did you pull permits on that job or just start digging? in TX you probably could get away with it but I think my HOA and county building dept would have a shit fit. Seriously, why underground, other then the cool factor? Why not above ground from a shed out to, oh say.....1000m?? Do you have a bunch of land or was that a factor?

Ok, Im going to chime in here Mark.
On the cost of the pipe ... was that an installed price or simply the cost of the pipe itself? @ grand for 3 joints of pipe seems kinda high. Any type of electrical lighting going to be done? I would think that the pipe itself should be lit as well and that would probably cause perforations of the pipe and a case for water leakage. I would think that on the far end of the pipe that the black matting would be suffeciant for a bullet trap but I am concerend with target retrieval and with lighting at that end as well. I would think that any type of enclosure for the bullet trap would cause for the concussion to wreak havoc on any kind of light duty light bulb. What kind of sound deadening material are you going to use..... thats gonna be one hell of an echo chamber especially if you top the bullet rap end and dont funnel that noise out and away from you. |

In Southern NH the forst level is 4ft below ground level. Some parts of Pittsburg NH (north sides of the hills or mountains) can be as much as 14 ft below ground level. That means that a foundation can be heved up by the frost or blown apart. Best to build up on slabs. |

Christmas tree lights all the way to fiber optic strips - no need to break pipe for lighting. As far as acoustics - it's all about mass when looking to absorb or block sound - the thing is underground which means tons of mass all around. |

Absolutely... if you get a chance read over "the hole" post also, it has pretty much everything: mice, pigs(in a blanket), deer, snakes(could have used some dillo dust instead of the tonys' but to each his own), big fat pregnat wives(who actully turn out to be kinda cute), kids, dogs, guns(well, a low-point 9mm carbine), and a guy with what seems like a great sence of humor and way to much spare time taking shit loads of pics of every white trash country boys' first childhood hobby(aside from boobs and eating), "diggin a big ole" hole in the backyard... K. |

Man your killing me, I was right up the road helping a friend move today (north end of RonaldRegan). I could have easily stopped by on my bike. I'm going to be adding a Mueler carport kit to my "shed" which is a 20' shipping container. So I definitely feel you on the roof add-on. I must say that this is a great addition to the property. Definitely go with the gunnite, before you spray it have a couple shelf and table brackets added to the rebar for the interior.
P.S. we are still waiting for an action report and pics of the 2 1/2 ton baby. If I wasn't such a distraction I'd be by the shop atleast once a week just to push a broom for ya'. Can't even begin to say how much I feel about Larue products and the character of Mark and his crew. Lets just say I'm a customer for life, and would gladly do the intern thing if they ever get one. |
