As soon as this hits the regular 6920 without all the Magpul stuff, I must have one.  Colt probably just sold thousands of rifles they wouldn't have with the changing of a roll mark.

I've always been a Colt fan... but it's like they actually have someone with a modicum of marketing savvy in their employ now. This superficial stuff doesn't phase me one bit, I'm satisfied with my LEO-only marked LE6920's (some even have big pins!), but this obviously means a lot to some people. Way to go, Team Hartford!

SWEET!

Whatever, I have no qualms admitting I like a cool M4 and Pony rollmark.  I have two MT6400C lowers for just that reason.

I also have several more LE lowers, though.  The roll mark's not a deal maker or breaker - but it's still pretty fuckin' cool!

Gonna have to put an SP6920 on layaway once I can scrape together a down-payment.

Now that I don't need to worry about reselling that MagPul crap... and I have enough spare Colt M4 stocks that if they send me that Rogers... thing, it won't bother me for too long.  Just about as long as it'll take me to figure out where the stock latch pin is to lift it off the RET!

Mmm.... spare RAS in the closet... a couple "spare" optics lying around...  I can browse the EE for a 14.5" barrel again... Yeah... I can see this working out....

I posted Colt's announcement last Sunday, a member in TOS just posted it today Tuesday, they probably read my post. LOL

I agree that guy is what you say, get this, he is offering to take off from the buyers hands the MOE furniture in exchange for the standard M4 furniture.

That way he steals it from the buyer and make more money from the MOE components.

Big F***ing Deal,

If you want to donate to a charity,go to your local church.

He is in business to make money & I doubt he is getting rich off of "stealing" your MOE parts & replacing them w/Colt OEM parts

Buy your gun / go buy OEM Colt parts to replace your Magpul MOE parts then sell them. If your lucky, it will be a wash!

He's damn sure got some good prices on 6920's that's for sure.

For $980 or $1060 depending on SP or MP he can "steal" all the MOE hardware he wants. I don't know the guy and I buy from a lot of folks so I'm not anyone's fan boy but G&R has done just fine by me. I've bought a couple of BCM lowers, 2 LE6920's, an MP6920 and some LPK's from him and he's good to go in my book.

Steals? It's optional for those want it. I bet Grant would have to take Colt parts from current inventory or special order them. How exactly should he replace the Colt parts and make up for the money spent on buying them? I guess capitalism is ok unless it's from a dealer you don't like?

Some people may not be into Magpul parts, some may only want the unique M4 Carbine rollmark , and some may want a 99% close to GI M4 clone.

This just ensured a huge opening for COLT in the CALIFORNIA market.

ETA:  All the lower needs is a bullet button if it's a complete lower or it must be a STRIPPED receiver.  I'm sure that Colt will just equip the lowers with bullet buttons.  Nice.

Nope.

The law you're thinking about regulates semi-automatic centerfire rifles.

A complete lower is not a semi-automatic centerfire rifle.

It only needs a bullet button once it becomes a semi-automatic centerfire rifle. In other words, a complete AR15 chambered in a non-rimfire caliber.

Until that point the lower is not a semi-automatic centerfire rifle and may be sold in CA, stripped OR complete.

You've got your opinion and I have mine, everybody have opinions.

When GT was still a dealer here at ARFCOM back in '05 I was also one of his customer, had no problems with him and he was one of the top 3 dealers I go to for my parts and accessories, after he got banned here I decided to just do business with other good dealers here.

I just hate merchants that keeps removed serviceable parts with or without the permission of the customer, at least they should offer a price of the removed parts that everyone could agree on.

I just want the M203 mount in your avatar...

I really have no opinion on the whole G&R thing... but then again, I have the wherewithal to replace the parts myself - and enough OEM Colt takeoffs in my closet to convert every single Colt M4 I've got back to a "slick" configuration for the most part.  Not to mention of the parts included in the MP-B, I already replace handguards and stock with non-Colt parts, the only things that are extraneous are the MBUS and MOE pistol grip.  So it's fine with me - but then again, I suspect few people have the stockpile of M4 parts that I have and might appreciate the kind of service they offer.

Ah, did not know that.  But, I'm interested in putting together a clone as close as possible to the M4, so I'd rather just get the lower and then buy a Colt 14.5" upper and have an extended FS slapped on.  Ya dig?!

Nope, you are mistaken.  The lower, which has the SERIAL number on it, can not be sold in California unless equipped with a BB.  So, if one resides in Cali and you want this Colt lower, which is not on the ban list, or if you want a cool BCM lower, which is also not on the list, it mus come equipped with a BB.  Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.  You can get all the off-list lowers you want in Cali, but it MUST come equipped with a BB if it is a COMPLETE lower.  However, this does not apply to STRIPPED lowers.

Stop spreading false information. This topic has been hashed out over and over and over and over again. The AW law regulates semi-automatic centerfire rifles. A complete lower is not a semi-automatic centerfire rifle because it is neither centerfire (it has no caliber until it is attached to an upper) nor a rifle (it is simply a receiver at this point, not a rifle). I'm not sure what you think having a SERIAL (sic) number has to do with being a semi-automatic centerfire rifle. Here are some threads on the topic:

http://www.mobile.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?p=6736000
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=374966
http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=8&f=11&t=389793

If you do not know and understand the law, you have no business giving legal advice.

The following is the text of SB-23.

12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
A thumbhole stock.
A folding or telescoping stock.
A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
A flash suppressor.
A forward pistol grip.

Damn, I guess I am wrong! WTF? I bought my lowers  early on and Calguns warned us  to HAVE a BB on the completed lower one had built from a stripped receiver, even without an upper. I guess things have changed because no one would sell a complete lower without a BB early on. Well, thanks for setting me straight.

ETA: I remember having all my parts to build my lower but waiting on my BB before putting it together based on the info given on Calguns.  At any rate, I got owned big time. You win.

I have noticed that several places online have ample stock of LE6920 rifles and have even been replenished on occasion.  Suppossedly the last 100 marked as restricted were released in late August.  Will the new LE6920 rifles maintain the Law Enforcement Carbine marking on one side but simply drop the restricted stuff on the other side?  I don't see them changing the LE model to the Sporter lower.  Maybe the newest batch of LE6920 will end up getting the same M4 Carbine marked lower these Magpul guns have.

There are a few manufacturers that make modern-day examples/replicas of their old military arms with cloned Government markings.  1911's, M1's...I believe both Colt and Springfield have done this...

I've always been curious if Colt would someday start making an exact M4 Clone with the same U.S. Property markings found on the real F/A M4's.

This is a great step in that direction!  Very cool!

Still has the carry handle - I've got enough that aren't being used already!

I have enough accessories that it would be easier to get an MP model, keep the PMags, and flip everything else on the EE - I suspect I could get more out of the MOE crapulous junk than I could for the Rogers stock on the EE.  The only thing I'd need to source is an A2 grip... and, well, those aint hard to find.    Even if I was going for an aftermarket grip - it wouldn't be the MOE.

The KAC RAS and SOPMOD are already "waiting" for a day when they're needed.

And some optics...

I've already got everything but the rifle.

I just don't see the utility of paying money for MOE parts.  As OEM is one thing, but again, MOE models are more expensive (if only slightly) than standard furniture.

The MOE handguards offer the same ergonomics as the A1 triangle handguards - which I only like for clones, I prefer the round handguard profile.  Irrelevent really, anyways, though, because I've got several KAC M4 RAS waiting in the wings - and with an M4 type carbine that's not a clone, they kind of go on by default.  I've already got 'em, so why limit my flexibility?

The MOE stock offers no functional improvements over the M4 stock - it simply has the look of a CTR, minus the parts that make it worth the money (QD sling attachment, friction lock).

The pistol grip... well, I simply don't like MOE or MIAD grips, for my hands, the standard A2 fits better, but I'm in the minority there, I guess.

I find the concept of the MBUS silly when I can get a MATECH for the same price or less - flimsy, take up a whole bunch of rail space, the MATECH fits better under most scopes, and has an elevation adjustment.  Relatively neutral, though, since I'm more and more gotten into the habit of just dispensing with BUIS on many builds, an unpopular opinion, I know - but IMHO, even BUIS are getting more and more pointless as failure rates of optics drop compared with failure rates in other equipment we depend on day in and day out.

The aesthetics are actually fine, if not as "classic."  I just don't see where any of the parts are "improvements" to things that have been out there a while.  There was a thread in Tech about it a while ago, too where I discussed this, particularly the handguards.  If triangular profile, or "flat bottom" handguards were really ergonomically superior - the "shorty CAR" triangle handguards, the Badger Ordnance FF tubes, and PRI Delta tubes would be way more popular than they have been.  It was only when MagPul stamped their name on a nearly fifty year old concept that they suddenly became "awesome."

I tend to be suspicious of anything that smells of blind brand Kool-Aid.  I think the MOE stock and handguards are among the worst offenders.  I'm not a MagPul hater - I own a CTR stock, and love PMags and L-Plates.  I don't have much use for it because none of my carbines really have a use for them - but I think the M93/UBR concepts are pretty ingenious.  The original MagPul is an excellent example of seeing a need and market for a product and creating a solution.  My girlfriend is hounding me about needing to replace my "retro" flip phone with an iPhone - if I do, I'll probably buy a MagPul case for it.      Nevertheless, I'm definintely not into every single thing they make.

Off topic - but I feel the same way about a lot of LT mounts.  Great, well designed, and well built, but I simply don't remove my optics enough to justify the cost most of the time.  Do love things like their bipod mount, though.  And the RCO mount is an excellent solution to the problem of 4x32 ACOG eye relief on a full rifle stock.  Also, a beverage entry tool is part of my EDC, along with my Spyderco and wine key.

I dig the Moe furniture; I have it on my "award-winning" A3 6520 and it does everything it was designed to do.

Is it the aesthetics that people do not like?

Cheers

I just don't see the utility of paying money for MOE parts.

Good response Augee and I respect your opinion.  I would not want to use a Moe BUIS as a primary, however I feel it is fine for a secondary.  With respect to the Moe furniture, I feel each piece offers at least one feature that is an improvement over standard issue.  Buttstock - I like the integrated buttpad and location of the sling slot.  Handguards - I like that I can add rails that place a light at a 30-ish degree angle.  Grip - I like that it has storage.  See above pic for details.

As an aside; I would have liked it if Colt kept the M4 side sling swivel on the Moe series.  BTW, I have one enroute from GT Distributors.

Cheers

As long as works for you, more power to ya, man!

Rubber buttpads tend to be a "take it or leave it" for me, I'm pretty neutral on the subject, I neither make special effort to get stocks without 'em or to add them.  I've also more or less dispensed with stock sling points in favor of receiver end plates, but when I did use the stock mounting points, I'd always found the "top" mounting position to be more than sufficient.

As for adding rails to the handguards - well, I tend to think that's a "+" only for someone who's afraid of cordless drills, but I've been told mine's a subjective opinion.

The MOE pistol grip I actually think is a great offering for those who like the MagPul pistol grip profile, rather than having to buy the MIAD - it just doesn't fit me.  I'm one of the lucky(?) few who love the standard A2.  I can jam two of my skinny little fingers north of the "bump" and "lock in" tighter than I can on a smooth front strap.  I've also been told by a piano lounge player in Atlantic City that I had a piano player's fingers, too though.  I don't play the piano, by the way, and I won't violate CoC by saying how I responded.

I'm not used to what to look for. Do these newer Colts still have funky size trigger pins?
