| My wife is a survivor. Early detection saved her life. We would be in for a six pack at least. The company I work for (General Mills) is a founder of the Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer along with Mercy Hospital here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. All proceeds from registrations go into a fund to provide screening and mamograms for those without insurance or cost issues. The corporate sponsors pick up the costs of shirts, prizes etc. Last year the race had 15,500 entrants and put $315,000 into the fund. This money is all used locally and not put into the nationwide funds. The race was started to honor Sandy Knight, one of our employees that lost her battle with breast cancer and has saved many lives locally. If you Google Especially for You Race, you can get much more information of how we make a real difference in our own town. BTW the picture with the girls arranged in the pink ribbon and 20 is all survivors. You can spot them in any other pictures as they have hot pink scarves. Mark, if you do make the decision for pink dillos, hopefully you can make something like this happen in your area. No matter what, if you do make them, keep them tastefull, as the majority of them will go to women and I don't think "Save the TA-TAs" or other such guy talk would be much appreciated. |

I LOVE Save the ta-tas. I think it's awesome! :0) I don't consider that guy talk at all. When the verbiage relaxed a bit, it brought a lot more people into the Breast Cancer Awareness cause. Not all women are uptight. I'd love a dillo with "Save the Ta-Tas––for our Snipers" on it. Of course, our lady snipers may not be that interested in the Ta-Tas.

| I didn't think the local Sisters of Mercy (who run the hospital) would have much of a sense of humor about this. They are a pretty straight laced bunch. Humor about such a serious issue might be taken wrong by someone that could do a lot of good for a cause. I personnally don't have a problem with it and the wife thinks it's cute, but a corporate sponsor would most likely not touch that with a 100 foot pole. |

I would suggest checking to see if there is a charity system in the Austin area that does similar to our local race and keeps the money local. Just don't use a "for the cure" phrase on it to avoid the SGK debacle. (Sounds like the DS of breast cancer) I know you probably use an extrusion for the dillos, but might it be possible to make the bottle opener in a size to open "pop/soda" bottle lids, as this would also appeal more to the fairer sex. Nice to see this coming together. |
