I would like to ask for recommendations for a mobile car wash service in the Birmingham area. If they only do the wash with the wax, then that is okay, too. It would also be helpful to know which companies NOT to use as well. Thanks in advance! |

I'm in the commercial car wash business but not a detailer. Not sure what you're looking for- is this a daily driver that needs sprucing up or one you're wanting to do an extensive recondition on? I know a car dealer that was actively using carwash2go for a mobile service and was kinda pleased with their work but he was paying $200 for a total detail and they have increased the price considerably since then. I think the in and out package would 1 step polish is $325 or so now. I've referred several customers to them and haven't heard anything negative back. A couple of express carwashes-Anthony's, Mister, Blue rain, and dirty dogs are doing express interior services while you wait for a nominal price. This is usually just a quick vac, interior wipedown, and glass clean but prices are reasonable and it usually takes them 20 minutes or so. There's a few detailers that are shop-based. Insane in Pelham is good and would be where I would carry a really nice car but not cheap. I knew a meguiar's rep and he didn't have a high opinion of a lot of the detail shops in the area. He specifically said stay away from Unlimited located on 280 because of their sloppy technique and poor housekeeping but that conversation was probably six years ago. I see "detailers" on Facebook local groups quite a bit. |

My daughter has her car there while she's at college in Birmingham. It sits outside all of the time. Last year, it got a lot of tree sap on it in the fall that was very difficult to remove when she came home. I had it detailed before she went back to school to help protect it better and to make it easier to clean. I just wanted to get the paint clean before she comes home for Thanksgiving, especially before any sap has a chance to really stick to the paint. There's probably bugs on it, too, by driving around town at night. The drive-through places with actual people doing the job around here (TX) will just clean the bugs and wax right over them, so I'm trying to avoid that scenario by asking here on the HTF. I had made a list of places from doing a web search, but they all make themselves look good on the web. Ideally, I just want a quality cleaning of the outside. If I have to buy a service that comes with a wax job, then I'm okay with that as well. Thanks for your input! |
