Burning huge amounts of 91 "premium" Which is mostly only found in cities. Had to take 3 degrees of spark advance off the table. 91 here was giving some Knock Retard on hills. . Many smaller stations in Yukon only have 87 unleaded. Coffee is real hard to find at night. |

after Action Report... 10,000 miles on the Tahoe, spent a bit over $3000 US on gasoline.
Canadian 91 octane pump fuel is slightly inferior to Alaska 90. In the higher temps around Alberta, early September we had to retard timing several degrees. A few, rare stations had 94 octane pump gas, we took it twice, but we did NOT load a custom spark map to take advantage, so it was pretty much wasted octane. several times we HAD to splash in 40 or 50 liters of 87 octane to get us through a stretch of 'BUSH".. as Espresso stands are VERY rare in western Canada, except Vancouver. TimHorton coffee is slightly better than gas station/ diner coffee. StarBucks in Canada is same as Mexico, and USA.... adequate, reliably consistent, un inspiring.. No problems at the border, Canadian customs very polite, did not have any problem with armed Americans passing through.. In Whitehorse, EARL's restaurant made us a damn good hamburger. |
