Hello! I was into shooting about 12 years ago, then gave it up and now getting back into it. Where are some good places to get ammo? I Wal Mart used to be pretty good. Then there was I believe Sportsman Guide where you could order it and actually go to Inver Grove Heights and pick up your order. And is ammo expensive? When I was shooting 12 years ago, I seem to recall a case of Wolf was around $200 and a box of 9mm was around $16. I was at Scheels in Eden Prairie and was surprised that the ammo wasn't higher with all the inflation. |

Sportsmans Guide had a retail outlet, but they closed that recently. Online ordering only now as far as I can tell. I usually buy ammo at Fleet Farm. Just a box or two while I'm there for other stuff, and add it to the stack. No idea if it is much cheaper than anywhere else locally. |

The days of $8.99 for 50 rounds of 9mm Winchester or Blazer at Fleet Farm are gone. Unless you find a sale Fleet Farm and Sportsmans Warehouse runs around $15 a box for 9mm. Your best bet is ammoseek.com and filter for free shipping. Brass case Fiocchi runs around $250 per case of 1,000. I think that Sportsmansguide.com still offers free 2 or 4 week trial membership. Sign up, order ammo, get free shipping, cancel membership. Their delivery for me has been fast, as in next business day. At least on the last 2 years. |

Well back in the early 2000's Galyans had case 100ct Win Value packs for $100 case they had Winchester 3131A (IMI made) for $150 case |

Watch for sales and order by the case. The base exchange just had Fiocchi 9mm for $200/case of you have access. Its $18 box today Sometimes you can score some at gun shows Watch the ee and filter for local I just ordered online and as stated above SG gets it to me next day quite frequently. Cheap and local is a tough request |

Tis all relative. Time and place What gets me is that 9MM is pretty darn cheap these days running for cci blazer brass about $240 a case , holy cow 223 is OUCH that is north of 55 cents a round. Mind you 20 or so years ago I recollect 9MM Wally World Win Value Pack @$10/100 or as above the SA Surplus Berdan primed 223/5.56. Or Galyans having Win. 3131A (IMI made stuff) for $150 per K plus tax. Or Way way back when CCI Mini Mags were really cheap. |

I have several Galayan's Q3131A cases in my stash with $130 price tags on them... I have a lot of Federal 550 round value packs with Walmart $8.96 price tags on them. Still have several cases of 7.62x39 I'm trying to dispose of. I'm at least 25% less than what I see it for on Ammoseek and still no takers. People expect things for free these days? |
