I will be in OKC for a couple of nights in July and would appreciate recommendations for dining and if there is anything worth checking out. Will be staying downtown but will be mobile if there are worthy places further out. My last trip to OKC didn't go as planned - spent several says in the hospital - and really don't want to experience that again! |

Obviously check out the OKC National Memorial & Museum. If you're into aviation/space, then you definitely need to check out the General Thomas Stafford Air and Space Museum in Weatherford (right under an hour west of OKC, right off I-40). Gun stuff: H&H Gun store and range, it's worth checking out Food: Van's Pig Stands for bbq (there's one in Moore and one in Norman) Hideaway Pizza (there's a few in the OKC metro area, including Moore and Norman) |

For a Gun nut the 45th infantry museum is a must see! They have a few pieces in there that are exceedingly rare, things I thought I'd only see in coffee table books, a real gem of a collection of fine firearms. I believe admission is free or a suggested donation of a few bucks and it is very near the center of the city and very accessible only a couple of miles off the highway. |

Okc zoo, best zoo in the region. Food, lots of good food joints in the city, some in good areas & some in bad areas. Nw 23rd & broadway is little china district, some ok spots bit farther west in paseo district, couple soulfood joints on lincoln north of capital, downtown got quite a few places, little mexico i35 from around 15th to approx i240 west to hwy44/will rodgers express. Nw side has some good burger joints too. Lots of museums/hall of fames in city too, Murrah building site, cowboy hall of fame, softball hof, firefighters museum, 45th infantry museum, railroad museum, lancer/omniplex west of zoo, some others on nw side I can't think of names of, willy post has one iirc for lady aviators, these two on southeast side, first Americans museum, osteology museum. Norman has fred jones art museum, sam noble dinosaur museum, national weather museum. Bunch of other museums can't think of names of. |
