In Kershaw County there is Hermitage Shooting Sports and Sandhills Shooting Sports. Honestly, I've never been to either but I have heard Sandhills is good from friends. In Lexington County there is Mid Carolina Rifle Range which is private, but may have day passes. They have been struggling for members as I recall, but that's just from memory. There is also the PSA range in Swansea. They have a clays range, I don't know about rifle. There is Wateree Shooting Range in Eastover that is run by DNR. They have a 100 yard range. |

How is MCRC? I’ve only been at ISPC or pistol steel match like 10 years ago, but I know nothing about the place. Been having an issue finding a place to shoot that I can do more dynamic stuff. Sandhills has a bag for that, but I’m not paying their annual membership fee just to use that, as the rest of the range is fairly restrictive. A buddy of mine and I shoot up at TRM in Chesterfield occasionally, about an hour up the road from Camden, and while it’s a nice range for long range shooting, he recently lost access to one of his ranges for normal use, so it just leaves his pistol bay and 550yd rifle range. It’s a great place to shoot, otherwise. Pantaeo was great until it started going downhill, and then tanked when Champion got a hold of it. |
| I'm not sure about the regulations at Mid Carolina. Im not a member. Their range boss is a real jerk, the 5 or 6 times I've been there outside of Appleseed events he has been rude enough that I just leave. But I heard he was replaced recently. He did not want any sort of dynamic shooting, just bench shooting. If he's gone, I'm sure it's a better place. |

The really snarly guy at MCRC is no longer a club officer. Last I knew in 2024 before I had to move to AL, that guy was doing primarily range maintenance. RSO responsibilities were reassigned to others. I'm not sure how much longer MCRC can hold on though. The land on the other side of their sand hill was sold and is becoming a high density subdivision with ~200 houses. Shooting range protection act be damned. They'll get lawfare'd like Panteao. |

It’s not midlands, but Clinton House is pretty solid. They have multiple pistol bays where you can also shoot .223/5.56 (maybe even .300 BLK?) and a 300 yd rifle range. If you spring for a membership, you can access their 1,000 yd range. They also do a monthly mile shoot, IIRC. They don’t allow full auto/FRT/binary/mag dumps, but seem pretty reasonable otherwise. |

Panteao was sued by several neighbors, who alleged that rounds were escaping the range and landing on their property. The sides reached a settlement agreement in 2021 that imposed certain conditions on the range (i.e. .50 cal only on Thursdays on one lane in rifle bay, one pistol bay rimfire only, RSO staffing, etc). Panteao then sold the range to Champion in fall 2022. Champion was subsequently sued by a neighboring solar farm in 2024, which alleged that bullets were going over the 600 yard berm on the rifle bay and striking solar panels (around a mile away). Champion elected to close the range earlier this year, and I believe both sides settled out of court following that decision. |
