Energy Ogre member for many years. In the beginning they were good. Signed me up for electricity contracts with good prices. Worth the membership fee to set it and forget it. The recent price jump made me take a new look. Seems I'm with the same REP for the third year now. Electricity price is not too bad but it looks like there are better offers out there. I'm OK with paying them $150 a year if they save me more than that but looking like I can do as well on my own next renewal. Anybody else have a similar experience or is it just me? Any other suggestions for finding the best deals? |

I think the energy companies who resell the electricity have figured out the game. I haven't looked lately, they are probably cheaper than the traditional TXU, etc. but everything has gone up in price too. But the last couple of companies Ogre has put me with, were a bare bones kinda place, like I'm shopping at Aldi or Dollar Tree. I feel like if I dig around a little bit, my "energy" company is probably in a suite in some unknown commercial area of town between a dentist office and an insurance office and everything goes to a call center some place else. It's essentially a front. |

It's essentially a front. I have one house on Energy Ogre, one on a plan I got myself. When the old one sells, I'm going to let EO go for a while. I too was sold on the "better pricing through our channels" by EO but other than the first round contract when I signed up, pretty minimal differences the following years from what I was seeing on powertochoose when adding EO monthly cost in as well. And you still have to go through signing up with the new plan supplier and all the rest of the effort each time your plan changed. Not very turn key. |

It's essentially a front. This is pretty much any of the electric retailers very few actually own generating assets and are just middle men taking a cut and betting on futures contracts. With the price of natural gas in the tank for years you'd think our rates would of dropped. Even if you have a contract and your 'supplier' bets wrong they just fold up shop move across the street and start over again. The idea of cheaper rates due to dereg is not working out.
