I had the paperwork in to sbr a KUNA . The stamp came back the same day as the nfa ruling went into effect. I’m a GOA member, Do I have to get it engraved still under PA law? It was auto the atf as a trust if that matters. |

All I’ve read so far seems to indicate state laws bans suppressors, SBR & SBS with exception to when owner complies with Federal NFA laws. If the Federal NFA laws were to be eliminated it could potentially be used against us to prohibit owning new NFA items. Definitely is a grey area. However, there are still 15 states, including PA that rely on the NFA process with regards to ownership so I doubt the ATF is suddenly going to stop processing NFA Forms. I’m in the same situation as you. I just had 4 Form 1’s approved. Those four firearms now need to be engraved but with the NFA up in the air and also the possibility the ATF might eliminate the engraving requirement I’m not sure exactly how to proceed. Probably what I’m going to do is engrave 2 of the guns that are still in pieces and wait on the other 2 until some more clarification happens. |
| FWIW, back in April ATF proposed a bunch of new rules, including one to eliminate the engraving requirement where someone was making a SBR/SBS from an existing firearm. The public notice and comment period ended last month. I'd expect they'll publish the final rule in the next few months. |
