Coming to visit my biological father who lives in Shirley, MA. I’m open as to time of year.
Neither of us are city folk and from the archived threads here the best recommendations are to go see New Hampshire. Id like to see Worchester as I was born there, ill stay with my dad in Shirley. We both like hiking (hes 72 im 52). So… what would be some good things to do and when would be a good tome to visit? EDIT: probably stay 4-5 days max, this includes travel days |

Worcester is a shithole. You will only be disappointed.
As for time of year to do a hike? Probably late spring or early summer. Also early fall. Shirley is in a decent area. However, Fitchburg is kind of an armpit, and it's close by. Devens was, at one point, home to 20th SFG. It's still home to the Army Reserves. Wachusett Mountain State Park has some nice trails, and is not far from Shirley. Boston, and the surrounding area, has some awesome history. I know it's city stuff, but it's neat to see where this country started. |

Ive had other people locally recommending Boston so I think well go on at least one day. Which frees up things to do if the weather is bad. |
