How is Vidalia? Cost, safety, things to do, ranges, car events. Etc…… We’ve been looking to move to better weather. At least one opportunity presenting itself near Vidalia….. Thanks for any information. |

I live about 22 miles from Vidalia. The local area is growing because of the Hyundai plant near Savannah. Lyons is expanding it's industrial park to accommodate other manufactures related to Hyundai. The area is nice, plenty of eating places. It is close to I-16 and highway 1 so traveling is easy. Larger towns like Savannah, Pooler, Macon or Augusta are 1 to 1.5 hour drive. Not sure about and ranges in the area but there is plenty of hunting clubs. Brantley Marine would be a good source to enquire about ranges. The area has plenty of woods so finding someone local to access their property wouldn't be an issue. Just off I-16 on highway 301 at the Statesboro exit is a range set up by Georgia Southern University. This would be a short drive and Statesboro has plenty of eating and shopping. Small water park for the kids, movie theater and nice school system. The crime is like anywhere else; you will have the scumbags doing scumbag things but overall its a safe place. Schools seem decent from what I have seen. My grandsons played football and baseball against them for a few years, this being the senior year. I should have added the Vidalia onion festival. It always has a large gathering with crafts, parade, fun activities and the air show. Nearly every year the Blue Angels put on a great show. This year it will be held April 23 - 26. |
