Just came across my email- Dept Fish and Wildlife is soliciting bids for a new range between Sadieville and Georgetown. 50 yard and 100 yard bays. Nice looking facility for those in the area. |

Guy over at Sling Point told me this about 4 years ago, Covid put a big delay on this. I'm sure it'll be tubes. One of the best things State of KY did was buying up that property, keeping it from the developers. You live in Scott County you know who I'm talking about too. Good deal..... |

That's good they are moving ahead with it. The last I heard was Fish and Wildlife were hosting a community meeting to take comments on it. That was sometime in 2020. It is a nice area but I wish they would extend the road a bit more and create additional pull offs. The way it is currently setup there are very few places to legally pull off and that concentrates people either in the same area or forces them to walk the few trails that everyone else is walking. |

They're working on it, has some huge berms maybe 20ft high. Slowly working on the building. Not gonna be a tin shack like Lloyd/Kleiber, they're going all out. 10 station 100yard rifle range. 10 station 50yard pistol range. Conservation classroom. Looks like it'll be awhile, depending on how the weather is. |

| I was out there a couple months ago and the berms were built and the building(s) founds/slabs were being worked on. I will try to run back out there and get an update. No reason for it not to be built by now but that doesn't mean it would be open yet. |

As for an update, the building appears to be coming along and will be nice like the "clubhouse" at Lloyd WMA by the trap range. Shame they didn't add trap ranges here. It did rain here pretty much non-stop May and June so I'll cut them some slack. I'm about 2 months behind my outdoor projects as well. Talked to worker there and he said their portion is supposed to be finished by the end of July but he would guess an October opening. Here are pictures as of June 25, 2025. I hear that the landowners that sold did very well financially, but still…. |

We lived on top of the hill/High View Farm. One of my classmates was killed when he hit one of the big trees on Roger's Gap Road. Scott County was a very different place back then, before Toyota came to town. |

On the back side of the wooden "shields" is a black material, it isn't steel but it is pretty dense. I can see some idiot taking a 50 cal to it and see how big of a whole they can make and then the range will get shut down because rounds are leaving the range. Concrete troughs with galvanized 2x4 holders is what serves for the target stands. Pistol targets look like they will be at 5, 7, 10, 15, 25, and 50 yards. I didn't measure but that's that they look like and it matches the 25 and 50 would match the rifle range. I'm not sure what the gravel chips are out in the range area but it feels like walking on wet sand. They aren't lose, dry, or dusty. They cling together like kinetic sand. Whatever it is it is very nice. My concern is the idiots as they are the reason why we can't have nice things and this range is way too nice especially if it is sitting out there unattended. I'm not sure if they will have a range master and it will only be open if they are there or if it will be a self serve type range.                  Large image of the whole range.

Probably just like the other WMA ranges...... No .50 cal No automatic fire No tracers Aimed fire only The real problem is people being people. Yeah they're just about done with it. Seeing as SD is closed, Mom asked about when the range would be opening, and if our old farm could be seen from the range. Farm looks like shit, but it can't be seen. |
