Let's have a look at Byron Donalds shall we; Born to a single mother in Brooklyn, NY and doesn't seem to know who his father is. Raised in NYC. Arrested for drug "distribution" at age 18. Convicted of felony bank fraud at age 20. Carpetbagger. Pro George Floyd; "George Floyd's murder was a tragedy and justice must be done" Byron Donalds Heavily endorsed by the GOP establishment gangsters. Endorsed by traitor Trump. Funded in part by AIPAC $76,626 as of 4/23/26 Is this really the ideal future governor of our state? |

Maybe include the guy's full tweet if you are going to use it against him: "George Floyd's murder was a tragedy and justice must be done, but if we truly want justice we must come together as one America. We can't be divided and fall into violence. We can't target the people protecting our communities. I hope you'll stand with me." https://x.com/ByronDonalds/status/1267816716966326273 |

Felony bank fraud on FL is passing a bad check. In FL, writing or cashing a bad check worth $150 or more is a third-degree felony. Shit, being a sole proprietorship handyman business with no proof of insurance coverage or exemption is a third-degree felony. Anyways, he damn voted against the Parkland bill and told the Legislature to piss up a rope. |

We were all kids once and we all did stupid things. Some did more stupid things than others. But we all eventually grow up. I'm not going to hold some stupid mistakes he made as a kid in college against him now. ETA: I don't think Mr. Donalds is a perfect person, and I don't know how he'll do as governor but at this point, I have a lot more confidence in him than the other candidates. I had my doubts about DeSantis too before he was elected. I'm not saying he'll be as good or better than DeSantis but I'm at least willing to give him a good looking over as I will the other candidates. |

| He seems like a good person to vote for - Christian believer, speaks of unity and holds his own against other people/political parties. How he was raised/through whom, I don't hold against him as he had no choice but his mom seemed to raise him right. |
Be the change you want in this world.

My problem with him is the massive donor cash coming in to him from multiple AI and data center groups, developers, pro flock and security groups and hella yankee groups etc... Soapbox time. Y'all can jerk yourselves off (this in a generality, don't get butthurt) about the 2nd and guns all day, while we get paved over and bent over by big data, LGBT groups and such that are making large gains. The second is to protect the others, and last I checked no one has started dropping bodies over the flagrant destruction of the state/country, and blatant disregard for constutional rights in regards to flock, data, police overreach and other things, and the absolute assfucking were taking with immigration. so that "canary in the mine" is absolutely a dumb comparison. I get this is a gun forum, but half of y'all are more worried about bumpstocks than data centers fucking up cities, classroom and education oversight, flock bullshit, and our loss of nature and the environment that made florida. And then at the same time complain that females are single issue voters on abortion and the like... Its not all about guns your not using during the election. So yeah consider Donalds, but don't complain when were loaded with data centers, more development of land and more erosion of what makes us, us. And I'd bet a lot that he'd magically, probably start looking at the crime stats and how one sided they are (see the saint George of opiates crap above) |

The majority of the top donors for DeSantis are now the top donors for Donalds. Jeff Yass for example has donated millions to both of their campaigns. Don't forget Richard Uihlein, the Seminole Tribe, Stephen Wynn (of Las Vegas Casino fame), NextEra Energy (parent company of FPL), Ken Griffin, and Thomas Peterffy. The people who paid into DeSantis' PACs for his 2022 and 2024 run are now all betting on Donalds. A ton of outside-of-Florida money put DeSantis in office. |

Folks are willingly selling their land to developers, who in turn either put houses or businesses on it. That is free market capitalism. Or should the government ban people from profiting off their land? I don't like the building up of Florida. But that is what drives Florida's economy. Florida has always been a real estate bubble based economy, going back to the start of the 20th century with Henry Flager. Hell, remember DeSantis getting his political nuts caught over the possible sale of State Park land to some developer? As for Flock Cameras, Jay Collins flat out stated that he supports them and thinks we need more. |
|
As I see it.....the canary is the $100 million Donalds has been given. That accounts to a great many "favors" that Donalds will pay back to those big donors. Those political paybacks are never in the best interests of We The People. With Fishback, this in not an issue and I STILL get to retain my rights. Win win. |

Real estate has been the driving force behind Florida's economic growth for generations, dating back to Henry Flagler. Whether people like it or not, that is simply the reality. For roughly the past 80 years, under both Republican and Democratic leadership, Florida has never made a sustained effort to become a major industrial or manufacturing state. Instead, the state's economic strategy has focused on attracting new residents, retirees, tourists, and real estate investment. The message has remained largely unchanged: move to Florida for the sunshine and beaches, retire here, raise your family here, and enjoy everything the state has to offer. That economic model has made real estate and tourism the backbone of Florida's economy. The real estate industry generates an estimated $473.7 billion annually, accounting for more than 25% of Florida's GDP, which is a larger share than any other state in the country. Florida's tourism industry generates an estimated $133.6 billion in annual economic impact, representing 7.8% of the state's Gross State Product. Out-of-state visitors contribute approximately $134.9 billion in direct spending each year, supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs across the hospitality, retail, restaurant, transportation, and recreation sectors. Real estate, rental, and leasing remains the single largest contributor to Florida's GDP, driven by steady population growth and continued inbound migration. Tourism is the state's other economic pillar, with Florida welcoming well over 100 million visitors annually. Together, these industries have shaped Florida's economy for decades and continue to fuel much of its growth. Outside of aviation and aerospace, Florida has never been a manufacturing powerhouse, and even those industries are highly specialized rather than broad-based manufacturing sectors. Agriculture remains an important part of the state's economy, but its strength lies in specific commodities rather than overall production. Florida ranks 21st nationally in agricultural sales, generating more than $7.8 billion in annual cash receipts. At the same time, the state leads the nation in the production of oranges, sugarcane, grapefruit, sweet corn, watermelons, and fresh-market tomatoes, while ranking ninth in beef cattle production. Beyond tourism and real estate, Florida's economy is primarily service-based. Corporate headquarters, finance, healthcare, business administration, and growing technology sectors are concentrated in metropolitan areas such as Miami-Dade, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville. The state is also a global leader in commercial spaceflight through the Kennedy Space Center and maintains a significant presence in aviation maintenance, aerospace, and military defense, although much of that activity is tied to federal government contracts rather than traditional private-sector manufacturing. The broader point is that Florida's economy has long been built around real estate, tourism, population growth, and services, not heavy industry. That has been the state's economic model for decades under governors of both parties. |

Save Florida, the real Florida. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/100831/IMG_1025_jpeg-3795867.JPG Regarding reforming FWC, it is important to understand how its leadership is selected. Gov. DeSantis appointed the current Executive Director, Roger Young, in 2023. The seven-member FWC Commission is appointed by the governor, confirmed by the Florida Senate, and commissioners serve staggered five-year terms. The commission is currently chaired by Rodney Barreto, another DeSantis appointee, and DeSantis most recently appointed Joshua Kellam to the commission in August 2025. DeSantis has been replacing Rick Scott's picks as his appointments have been term-out. Also, do you not remember when Gov. DeSantis backed a controversial 2024 proposal to commercialize nine Florida state parks by allowing developers to build golf courses, pickleball courts, and luxury lodges? After overwhelming public opposition and bipartisan backlash, the proposal was abandoned. The Legislature then passed, with a veto-proof majority, a bill permanently banning such developments, which Gov. DeSantis ultimately signed into law. |

I feel like we’re agreeing if I understand what you’re explaining. Donalds is DeSantis’ and Trumps guy. I don’t dislike either of them but what they’re doing to my Florida… NO. Just like your average Cuban-turned-Floridian, I too fled a shithole state. I understand what’s happening to Florida and I’m absolutely devastated; I refuse to let it continue. Fishback may not be perfect but he’s my pick unless someone offers a compelling reason to vote differently. |
