I am looking at new jobs, and I am in talks with an employer in Fargo, ND. Tell me about shooting ranges and gun culture around the area. My google searches show that there are no NFA restrictions. I shoot IDPA, steel, USPSA and when feasible 3 gun. I would love to have access to a range where I can shoot beyond 300-600 yards. I love to fish for catfish, and I never realized the Red River runs through Fargo. Winnipeg is 3.5 hours north as well, so fishing opportunities for walleye, pike and catfish must abound. Thanks |

I personally dont have any NFA stuff but everything is legal. Action shooting is about half hour east in Minnesota at the Glyndon Rod and Gun Club. They do USPSA for sure, not sure about the other discipline as I focus on USPSA. Some guys will travel to Bismarck (2 hrs), Minot (4 hrs), and Minneapolis area (4hrs) for majors. Grand Forks about an hour north has IDPA matches but no USPSA as far as I’m aware. Lake Ashtabula about 1.5 hrs west looks like a good spot for pike from what I’ve seen, I’ve never gone out there personally. But check out NDYAKANGLER on youtube as he’s got a lot of bass and pike content around the area. |

If you are into High Power F Class you have ranges Forks Rifle Club just west of Grand Forks out to 600. Out east of Bismarck there is a 1000 yd range. There is Rush Lake private/open to the public range for PRS and range a shade past 1K - Rush Lake Range North Dakota Shooting Sports Assn Minnesota Rifle and Revolver Assn There are more High Power Clubs around Mpls / St.Paul Elk River Sportsman's Club right outside Elk River...nice club goes to 600. Gopher Rifle and Revolver is up at Harris MN, and they go out to 1K. North Star down just north of Red Wing goes to 600. You have 2 indoor ranges in FM area. |

You have do the leg work for your disciplines that are interested in that is for sure. But, I suspect you will find opportunities. FMPSA Driving is inevitable to shoot. Rush Lake is not that far from FM area with access to the longer ranges. I know people that drive up from the twin cities to shoot @ Rush Lake. Private clubs are harder to navigate for sure. Most clubs with longer ranges are competition driven memberships. The old saying 90 percent of the work is done by 10% of the membership. In another lifetime I drove to Grand Forks to shoot HP league every Wednesday night. 80 miles one way in summer months. Of course gas was cheaper etc |
