Tax raising R commissioners, and visual frauds, Rebecca Bays and Diana Finigan both lost their jobs in Tuesday's primary. Kudos to Citrus county voters. Now....the other three commissioners that were not up for reelection....listen to the voters or you will meet the same fate as your colleagues. |

I'm new here to Citrus County. It looks like the Republicans want to decrease property taxes. The Dems state that this will force an increase in sales and excise taxes (gas). I thought gas and sales taxes affect everyone here and passing through, whereas the property tax issue would mainly affect county residents. Doesn't that seem like a better revenue source to pinch non-residents as well as residents, that just residents? V OUT |

I worked in the public sector, for SWFL's largest city, for 20 years. The amount of waste is disgusting. They are all top heavy with management. If they do make cuts, it's always the workers. Hiring freezes, pay cuts, pay freezes, furlough time, been there lived that. They will impose "fees" and cry the same old thing. Crime will increase, elderly folks will die, babies will burn, ect. ect. In SW FL, the city imposed a surcharge on your electric bill. You had to pay an additional percentage to the city. They imposed a fire assessment. When they used that money, that was supposed to be for fire, to buy equipment, they jacked up the assessment the next year. Don't get me wrong. I am all for eliminating property taxes. Just saying they ( local government ) will find new and exciting ways to f**k us. |
