| I need some help with the current requirements for buying a suppressor with a trust in Michigan. It's been a good 10 to 12 years since I bought my last suppressor in my trust and I'm thinking about adding more. I know the rules changed but I can't seem to find clarity on what changed. If I were to get a new suppressor, or multiple new suppressors, does everyone in the trust need to be finger printed and background checked? If so, what is the best process for that when we have people in the trust in different counties? |

The change under the Obama Admin was that all RPs have to go through the paper work on a Responible Person Form, photos, and prints every time a new item is purchased by the Trust. I once was on a trust with multiple responsible people. We all had to go to the same gun store to do the paper work. Since then all my NFA purchases have been on a trust where I'm the only responsible person. Have you tried calling a dealer to ask them what options there might be? I wonder if they use something like a Silencer Shop Quiosk if you other members can go to other locations. I've heard where some folks admin their trust to remove the RPs and then re-add them later. The General NFA section in the Armory might have some better answers. |
