| Im out in Hermitage. And I have seen everything from 10 to 20 inches of snow forecasted.. Snow is... OK.. Ice is not... Anybody have any confidence on what the weather (specifically the ice) is going to do? I have seen models where it shows it pretty south.. Then other models its the usual "above I40 is snow and below is ice" |

This morning it was ice south of I-40 and snow north of it. What will be will be. I'm sitting in Kroger parking lot waiting on my wife to get a few things and it's a madhouse! I'm ready for whatever happens. I gotta top up the oil lamps and Coleman lanterns when I get home and put a couple mantles on. Went 21 days without power in the icepocalypse of 93-94. This has the potential to be much worse. We'll see.... |

I saw one report today claiming snow starting Saturday morning in Middle TN and continuing to fall until Sunday afternoon, with the temperature staying in the low to mid 20s from about 12 hours before the snow starts to some point after the snow is over. Last forecast I saw on the ice was last night, with the north and south of I-40 split. I need to check the gas cans for the generator. ETA: I stopped at Kroger last night, and it wasn't yet a madhouse, but it was worse than usual. |

I have said for years they call it 'weather' because they don't know whether or not it's going to do anything. I am not far from Knoxville in Loudon and Roane. Right now, it's not that cold, it's fairly dry and if this is the calm before the storm, I am very, very ok with that. (Sorry to the lineworkers but I'd prefer few if no trouble tickets.) |

It's 46° in McMinnville with a steady warm rain falling. Warm air from the gulf has pushed further north than they thought. It is supposed to get cold later on but things look to be changing a bit. If it does freeze tonight at least all the buildup on the trees is gone now. All of yall in the currently warm area should squirt some oil in your car door locks and wipe the rubber door seals down with wd40 to keep your doors from freezing shut. 5:40 AM  7:40 AM  |

A bit inside the western edge of Davidson County. Temp still around freezing, and it's raining. Just heard a popping noise and looked out the window to see a tree falling. Hearing limbs (and likely other trees) falling from time to time. Limbs still encased in ice. Power has been out for a while. Good thing I filled the cans for the generator. |

Prayers for all of yall down there! I am ready for the worst it could be but I'll take this. The only thing I use the generator for is the fridge and freezer and I run it for an hour every 5- 6 hours and that seems to hold temps just fine. I have a non electric gas heater, non electric gas water heater, a gas stove for the kitchen that needs electric for the oven and stove ignitors but they work fine with a match. Coleman lanterns and oil lamps, and candles for light. Buddy heater and plenty of propane in case the gas goes out. Coleman stove for cooking in case the gas goes out. I do have a woodstove but with I'm still recovering from some serious health issues and didn't lay any wood in this year. I plan on having plenty of wood next year though. |

I’m in Blount County, up a mountain at about 2100’ elevation. This pic is from about 5 am. Everything was encased in that thin ice shell. It’s raining all day and we’re supposed to have single digit wind chills later so I expect lots of tree/limb fall is coming. We’re just going to hang out here today…

Went out and started clearing fallen limbs from the road. Got one pile moved out of the way, then moved on to the next one. Had the second pile mostly cleared, then heard more popping, looked back, and a big limb fell right next to where the first pile had been. I'm just going to sit in the house until most of the ice has melted off the trees. Seems like a good time to do some maintenance on the chainsaws. ...maybe after lunch. |

Compared to middle and west TN, we got damn lucky here in west Knoxville. I’ve seen a few limbs down and an occasional tree, but that’s it. I never lost power and those that did were not that many from the outage maps I saw. All in all, it wasn’t near as bad as they were saying earlier in the week. |

Had a MNPD cop sneak up on me while I was chipping away at the ice on the windshield. I guess the department bought a few of those electric pickups. He was doing a welfare check on a neighbor up the road. Turned out the guy had shut his phone off to save the battery, and one of his relatives got concerned when they couldn't reach him. Gonna go back out and try to make another dent in the limbs and trees laying across the road, after I get some lunch. The cop had 4WD and was able to go around the blockages by driving out into a field, but I have my doubts the NES trucks will be able to do the same, when they eventually get here. |

We have power but a lot of damaged trees. It will be interesting to see how the trees without snapped limbs (but bent over to the ground) will recover. Generator ran for about 8 hours yesterday. Got power back at 9:30pm or so last night. |

The fields are still frozen, so I decided to make an attempt to refill the cans that I have used topping the generator off since this started. Got out to the main road in my area (two lane country road), and it was in better shape due to the pretreating that had been done before all of this started falling, but there were several places that only one lane was open due to the trees laying in the road. At one point, a large tree had fallen almost perfectly across the road as if someone was trying to barricade the road, and somebody had made a couple cuts through the trunk and then shoved the middle section out of the way, leaving a single lane wide opening in the middle of the road. The gas station was out of regular. If I have power (other than the generator) before the weekend, I will be impressed. In the meantime, I'll gradually be adding to my firewood pile. |

Got another tree cleared from my road (still a few more to go). While I was refilling the generator before coming back inside to collapse, my sister called to check on me. She's retired and spends a lot of time on facebook, and she had seen a posting that NES trucks had made it out to my area, today. Unfortunately, the main road was completely blocked due to some people who obviously couldn't handle the current road conditions, but went out anyway and managed to block the road when they wrecked. So the NES trucks reported the road blockage, and their dispatcher sent them somewhere else. ETA:  Gloom, Despair & Agony... |

This morning, a guy from the next road down beat me to the rest of the trees that were laying in my road. A mini excavator makes a huge difference in how quick the road clearing work goes. Still no power, but I've got firewood and it should be easier to get out and go looking for a gas station that has regular to refill the cans for the generator. I heard the lows are going to be in the single digits, this weekend. |

When my sister's Jackery power pack was depleted and the temperature in the house dropped down to the mid 30s, she finally agreed to leave her house and go to my daughter's place, and I no longer needed to run the generator continuously to keep 'comms' open 24 hours. My cellphone has alternated between one bar and no bars, with an occasional switch to 'roaming' with two bars. Mainly, I've had it connected through my Wi-fi when the generator is running. Surprisingly, Comcast has kept the cable internet working at my house, though it has been less stable than normal. |

Yep. Tomorrow and tomorrow night will be a different story. Prep accordingly. The NES system got hit HARD with all of this ice. Distribution typically takes the brunt of it and a while to get back with this large of a damage footprint. Looks like they are making headway though. Down to 80k out last time I heard today. As far as adapters, I do that for my big buddy heater and my blackstone. They work great. I also have the adapter that will let me refill a 1lb bottle. No, I haven't picked up a refill adapter, yet. I saw a forecast saying we're going to be getting some wind tomorrow. Could be some more trees or limbs falling. NES still hasn't got my power back on, though they do have it on for most houses in my area. |
