Don't forget your bread and milk! How much snow in your area? Here in Greenwood we'll get a dusting that'll quickly melt, at best. I'm ready for a thick layer of snow like we used to get. Attached File |

Yesterday's snow event fizzled out. We did have a little snow falling, but it was too warm for anything to really happen. This weekend there seems a greater chance for snow and/or ice. Hope we don't have an ice storm with power outages and stuff. What's expected in your area? |
| I'm looking forward to some snow in the upstate. Not actually expecting it, but looking forward to it. I'm sure we will get some rain and ice in spots though. |

| I looked at Apple Weather and it is saying we are going to get 1-2" Saturday and 1-2" Sunday. Yesterday it said 10-13" for Sunday. That is a little bit of a difference I think. My kids were all thrilled with the idea of going sledding and such. |

I may be new to Greenville, but it's true, South Carolinians can't drive for shit!!  However, my mantra every day I wake up here has been, "At least I don't live in Chicago anymore!"

| My daughter is ecstatic with the thought of another snow storm, we had to miss a few days of our trip to England last Feb due to everything shutting down. My guess is we may have some overnight ice later in the week into early next week here on the coast but I don't it amounts to much. As long as we don't lose power I am fine hunkering down for a few days and not doing much. |

Some of the models having the front moving northward creating more of an ice condition for SC than snow. Been trying to get into the Weather Channel webpage but they can't find my location even when entering it manually. Never had this problem before today. Where is Jim Cantore going that is where it is going to be the worse. Is the Waffle House closing? |

| I hate snow.... but I hate Freezing rain/Ice even more... without power for 10 days following Helene was doable do to the temps outside, here in the upper upstate things don't look good for any long term power outages and the outdoor temps. I live in a crawl space home and even with the insulated copper pipes I am still worried... stocking up on sharkbite slip couplings... |

I talked to a Met from GSP who hangs out on a weather board im on. He said in 10 yrs at GSP he has never aice set up like this. Potential for 4” of sleet in the upstate with freezing rain accretion on top as it ends. He said the cold air wedge usually erodes as the warm nose punches it. But this one will not because of a powerful high pressure feeding it with ample cold air. |

Here is the latest from the Columbia NWS. They are holding another briefing Friday morning. I will update here when I have the slides in hand. Yes it is going to be bad Saturday and Sunday but it is going to be with us thru much of next week. Not much is going to go away with the cold temps. I checked all my portable propane heaters and tanks today. Tomorrow morning I will make sure all my rechargeable lights are ready plus drag in a fill up a few MWC containers. Also filling up bathtub with water to flush the toilet. Why water? Because I am on a well. Meh, No good deed goes unpunished. Last Wednesday, in the hype of the apocalyptic forecast for here this week end, I did a thorough pullout and checkout of the survival stuff. I fueled and test ran the genny, and fired off the 2 propane lanterns. Set up and test ran the 2 burner cook stove that I picked up cheap at a yard sale a couple of years ago. Got the Little Buddy propane heater going, and got the big Charm-glow wall heater that's mounted to a portable stand going. Gas logs in fireplace are working as well as the Nat gas wall heater up stairs. Rounded up the two Milwaukee M18 battery lanterns and a bunch of LED flashlights and lanterns. Checked/replaced batteries in the smoke detectors. We are on a municipal water system and have a self firing nat. gas water heater so water and hot showers should not be a problem. Wife bought some reheat or easy fix type food items to get us by. Now, as I sit here about noon on Saturday, The ice apocalypse forecast has dwindles down to some freezing rain/ice from about midnight tonight until noon on Sunday, followed by rain and rising temps in the upper 30s to 40 degrees. No freeze forecast over Sunday night/Monday. Hard freeze hits Monday night, then back to normal winter weather for us. Well, I guess everythings been test ran. I only had one battery lantern crap out. SMH |
My kids are disappointed. I'm not, other than they won't likely get to play in snow. I did a screenshot of the Weather app from last Tuesday: Um... yeah... talk about creating hysteria early. |

I scored myself a 6 out of 10 in being prepared when Helene hit, thought I fixed alot in my prepping stockpile.... then comes Icemageddon! Here in Inman, northern Spartanburg cnty, we are now expecting to be one of the hardest hit with well over an inch of freezing rain. House has no natural gas so no hot showers, and my generator will not run the heat pump. being a prepper means we are somewhat prepared, but always learning for next time... by the time I'm fully ready I'll be to old to implement a 90% response to what's coming

Fired up my gas logs. Checked and set up my parent’s emergency heat that I will take care of if needed. Got some gas for my Blackstone. Charged all the batteries and lights. Doing prep stuff means nothing will happen right? |

Duke Energy: So it begins. I'm upstate and it has been mostly rain and sleet. There is some snow mixed in, but ice is visible on the trees. ETA: Outage was only about 5 hours. Power was restored and stable since. |

We're in the center of the 4-6" band and hope we get it. It's been a long time since we've had that much snow. I'm puzzled..... It this a result of Climate Change when it snows again like it used to snow?  Will this top off the ice caps that Gore predicted would be melted by 2020?

Today Apple's weather app dropped us down to .35" of wintry mix in the upstate. :( I was hoping for real snow so the kids could enjoy it. The ice storm just sucked. The kids made the best of it, but it was far from "fun". |

I know a lot of ya all love snow because it is semi rare here... reason I hate snow is I was born in the wrong state.. grew up right outside Buffalo New yuk. I was 11 when we had the blizzard of '77, snow so deep trucks couldn't drive through it. winter went from october till the end of may. when I graduated HS I moved to AZ just outside Phoenix and lived there until the early 90's when I lived in south Florida... on a visit back to NY I met my wife and was stuck up there until we moved here in 2016. so for some of us that have seen more than a few lifetimes of snow and cold... excuse me for loving the heat and Humidity!

LOL I can't stand the shit. My neighbor just drove out to get his skid steer with a rolling broom. He is going to keep our street clear for us because the county won't do anything. My neighborhood entrance is a pretty good hill that will turn into an ice sheet in a matter of hours and the county won't do a thing for it. |
