I avoid states that don’t allow concealed carry for non-residents. I’m thinking of making an exception to take advantage of an all expenses paid trip to Hawaii. Fro my research, it seems that any carrying any type of handgun is out unless you’re a resident with an HI permit, It also appears that daggers and automatic knives are forbidden but there is no size restriction on carried blades. Does that all sound correct? |

Correct on handguns, you must have a Hawaii license and only residents can get them. You can have daggers and other non-firearm weapons but they must be openly carried. |

I suggest buying pepper spray here which is sold at most gun stores here and carrying a folding knife. |

I wouldn’t take pepper spray on a plane, you can buy it here and it’s cheap enough to leave it behind when you go home. As far as crime goes, like most tourists dependent states, if you stick to the more touristy areas you’ll be fine. If you go to exploring outside of those areas, vehicle break ins are an issue, so don’t leave anything of value in your RAC |

It's prohibited in carry on bags. TSA allows pepper spray in checked bags but most airlines prohibit it. With that said, pepper spray almost never gets found and when it is found, they call you up to the counter and have you remove it. Pack it well to avoid accidental discharge, put it in a plastic tube. |
| Are pocket folders okay to carry if they are clipped to your pocket (as in not shoved to the bottom of your pocket)? I CC every day and it's going to feel odd not having something. |
