It's major cringe. He tells a tough guy story about being wounded in combat. Then he performs surgery on himself, then rejoins the battle. He then then suggests that this how hard he would fight for you as your governor.... This badass, tough guy thing is getting old....really old. It has nothing to to with governance. What is he going to do as governor if the legislature doesn't follow his lead? Is he going to beat them up or shoot them? |

You know who I'm supporting and I have endorsed. But I'm not saying this just because Collins is a political opponent (he's not, opponents actually have game). I'm saying this because he got the dog crap beaten out of him last night on the three-way Price Is Right low-budget debate and he is a prime example of how not to run a campaign. Fishback, running a populist campaign, spouting nothing but rhetoric with no solid foundation literally bitch slapped Collins to where Collins lost it multiple times. Sure, Fishback's campaign rhetoric is empty platitudes and not actually grounded in reality. But he masterfully controlled the direction of the debate and the cameras. Fishback kept his podium clean. Renner, being the milquetoast Bush era compassionate conservative Republican that he is literally equated Collins' ramblings to that of Biden debating Trump. Renner twenty years ago would have appealed to Baby Boomer Republicans who were just entering retirement. And he was able to one-up Collins. And Renner reminded me on John McCain debating Obama and saying nice things about Obama. He had a one item on his podium but rarely referenced it. Collins literally couldn't think on the spot. He had a pile of notes and an iPad he constantly kept looking at. HIs wife, Layla was on her phone the whole time in the front row, probably feeding him answers and speaking points. Fishback and Renner didn't need support materials. Collins threw word salads similar to Kamala Harris. But the killing blow was when Fishback asked "who voted for DeSantis in 2018, raise your hand." And Fishback and Renner did, while Collins attempted to, stopped himself and gave no answer.  Mind you, he simply could have said something to the effect of "I wasn't living in Florida yet, I was moving to FL because of Ron, but I couldn't vote. Same reason Fishback couldn't vote in the 2020 election in Florida, he didn't live in Florida." Instead, he froze like a deer in headlights, did the weird three-finger thing, stumbled, and said no. It was a clear sign that he couldn't think on his feet and act as a politician and elected leader should act when things are thrown at him out of left field. Personally, I've experienced this already when dealing with Collins at the Capitol when he was a Senator. He is ill-tempered, easily made angry, doesn't know FL law, didn't know what was in his own legislation, etc... Those watching the debate last night got to experience what I've experienced for the three years he was a Senator. Oh, and he fully supports flock cameras. |
| I fell out of my chair laughing when Collins took off his prosthetic leg and slammed it on the podium during a press conference attacking Byron Donald. Thank you for your service, but losing a leg in combat and being a green beret doesn’t make you qualified to be governor. |

Collins' political career is winning a gerrymandered district for State Senate after he failed running for a Congressional seat, failing to serve a single term, and being appointed to Lt. Governor. The most useless office in Florida. The office doesn't break ties votes in the Senate nor is it the Senate President like in other states. Heck, from the 1885 to 1968, Florida didn't have a Lt. Governor. It is literally a do-nothing straphanger job. A "break glass in case governor is dead, impeached, or resigns" only position. There's a reason why Janet Nuñez resigned to become President of FIU, that's a real job with real responsibilities. |
