A little preface. I was born and raised in the reddest state possible - Oklahoma, and after seeking riches and fame in Washington state I have realized that it ain’t going to happen here. I just don’t fit the mold(pun intended). Anyway, youngest just left for college out of state and the wife and I are ready to leave this once great state and move east to be closer to family. Hers is in VA and mine are now in GA. Oldest son just got an offer to do data/comms work in Powdersville. Looking for advice on good areas for homes nearby. We prefer semi-rural to rural but require reliable internet since we work remote. Nearby ranges are a plus. Appreciate any suggestions you guys can give. |

There is no more rural at least by my standard. If it’s rural now give it a couple years. Landrum is about to get the new trail through town and effectively close the gap between Travelers Rest. I have 42 acres and talked to my wife last night about packing it up and finding a new place to go. I am about to sell off 3 other plots I own to develop my personal property and cash out. Lenar and other big builders had left the blue ridge area alone for the longest but they are here now and it will look like Simpsonville soon enough. I can’t stand what has become of the area but that’s progress. |
