Stopped by Bryson City today and then a trip up to the road to nowhere. My great grandparents property was flooded by Fontana Lake and all their graves were relocated to an island. Fontana was built to power the bomb project at Oak Ridge and aluminum at Alcoa Tennessee for the war effort. It's a beautiful part of my home state.Attached File |

| Years ago, we backpacked into Hazel Creek. Went by boat across the lake, then hiked in and stayed a couple of days. This was before Hazel Creek area was "discovered" by trout fishermen and started to overcrowd the area. I always like that area and a couple of times before going into Hazel Creek, we spent the night at the Fontana Hilton on the AT. |
