I keep having nightmares that my electronic locks will fail and I'd like to have them retrofitted with mechanical locks.

Does anyone in the Charleston area do that?

Do your electronic locks have key backups? The lock on my Winchester safe failed. Luckily, I was able to use the key until it got replaced.

No, unfortunately.

I've heard the retrofit can be a DIY job.

I would check with Berkeley Locksmith in Ladson. They sell safes and should be able to give you some advice.

I have never bought anything from them, so I can’t really give any feedback on their service.

There is also a safe and security sub forum in the armory section. If you post some specifics on your lock and safe, you might get some answers as well.
