NYPD Pizza has this sign posted at Williams Field/Market in Gilbert.
The store manager said they posted the signs years ago, when the law changed. I don't recall ever seeing one and I make it a point to look for these. It was about knee height outside the front door and I didn't see any posted on the inside. Attention NYPD Pizza, Pursuant to ARS 4-229 your sign does not meet the legal requirements for posting. E. The signs required by this section shall be composed of block, capital letters printed in black on white laminated paper at a minimum weight of one hundred ten pound index. The lettering and pictogram shall consume a space at least six inches by nine inches. The letters comprising the words "no firearms allowed" shall be at least three-fourths of a vertical inch and all other letters shall be at least one-half of a vertical inch. Nothing shall prohibit a licensee from posting additional signs at one or more locations on the premises.

| Barrows Pizza, 5135 N Dysart Rd on the N.E. corner of Dysart & Camelback. Litchfield Park area which is on the far west side. No handguns signage at door, but its okay to carry in everything else. Judging by the ugly cashier I dont think anyone would hold the place up. |

So I just got my Crossbreed Supertruck holster, got some time off, so I decided to take my wife out to dinner and as it turns out Applebees and the Native New Yorker, both off of 51st Ave and baseline, don't want CCW holders. Needless to say I was pissed so we drove down Baseline to the next Applebees who were happy to have our business. I for one do my best to avoid doing business with those that don't allow CCW.
Bottom line: If you want to CCW, Applebess and Native New Yorker both off of 51st Ave and Baseline are a no-go. |

Outback in Sierra Vista has a sign that doesn't meet the legal requirement, as the one above at I17 and Dunlop. It is small, and placed above the second set of doors as you enter, in such a way that it is unlikely that most people would notice it.
Applebee's in Sierra Vista has a sign that does meet the legal requirement as to its contents, but it is not placed in an obvious location. |
| PoPo's Mexican food on 59th ave & Bell just put a sign up at the front door a few weeks back. I spoke with the manager and voiced my concerns, but she said it was the three owners' decision to make both restaurants the same (other location had an "incident" which prompted them to put a sign up). I checked back a few days ago, and the sign was still there. Not quite by their liquor license, but damn, I'm gonna miss those shrimp tacos... |

Bay Leaf Café in Chandler (Alma School and W. Chandler Heights) is posted "no firearms" in a large sign next to the door.
No skin off my back as my wife and I just walked back to the car and went to the excellent Thai place (Silk True Asian) across the way that is not posted as such. |

| Anybody know of any movie theaters that aren't banning? AMC Centerpoint on mill just put a sign up in the last few weeks. They didn't have one before. But I assume almost everyone bans. I've also heard they now have metal detectors at the theater in Mesa Riverview. |

Thank you for posting the list of banned places for CCW. I'm also glad I continued reading as I didn't know the laws & penalties for going into stores & places that did not allow CCW's.
I always thought it was the stores choice not to allow weapons on their premises, didn't know there are laws about it ... I now know different. Pretty scary that I could possibly loose my CCW rights & more ... I can't afford $500 or the 30 days as I'm not in the best of health. Jail house doctors/medicine are not the best. Also, I'm a 'Nam Vet & we always get the bad end of the stick ... Thanks for doing the home work for the rest of us. |

Noticed recently that the Cowboy Club restaurant in Sedona removed their sign. I always thought it was ridiculous that a "cowboy" themed restaurant would ban carrying firearms.
I saw another company that removed their sign recently but I forget who it was. Heading in the right direction, though. I'm making it a goal of mine to drop off concise, clear information cards to the managers/owners of every business with no gun signs in the near future, and attempt to understand their stance and explain mine. |

Any one or more of the following applies: (a) At the time of the violation the notice prescribed in subsection A of this section had fallen down. (b) At the time of the violation the person was not a resident of this state. ... |

For every one listed, there should be an email and/or phone number. And, frankly, any time one takes their dumb signs down and gets off the list, there should be a list of them, too, so we can go out of our way to patronize them and let them know that good choices have good consequences! |

We can add Barrio Queen in old town Gilbert to the list. I sent them this:
I'm writing to respectfully ask you to reconsider your decision to threaten a good part of your customer base with arrest. I met friends there a few days ago, and if it was just me and my family, I would have left. I certainly won't return... it's unsafe for me to leave my sidearm in my car. And please consider... do you really believe anyone who's intent on causing trouble or harm is going to be deterred by your sign? Do you really think the crazed attacker or the person angry at their ex is going to see that and think, "Oh, I can't attack here, I have to go somewhere else"? All your sign can possibly do is deter the folks who A) *aren't* the problem; and B) might be the only ones between you and an attack between the time you can dial 911 and the police can possibly arrive.
If you remove your sign, I'd gladly return. If it stays, an awful lot of Arizonans will not. |
