| My permit expires Oct 16. How many days ahead of the expiration can you renew, is it 30? Also, I haven't kept up on the requirements so it's there anything special I need to do to renew? I was thinking I just had to show up with my existing card and fill out the renew paperwork and pay the fee. |

A person wishing to renew a Permit to Carry Weapons must apply within 30 days before the permit expires, or within 30 days after the permit expires. Any permits falling outside of the previously mentioned window must be charged the higher “new” permit fee. Please note that while a permit can be renewed within 30 days after it expires, a person whose permit has expired should not go armed in a fashion that requires a permit until a person has renewed their permit." | Got my permit renewed today. Cost $25 and took about 10 minutes total to fill out the paperwork and pay the fee. They said it would take about three weeks to get the new permit but the last two times I've gotten a new permit it took about a week. We have a pretty conservative sheriff's department and things go smoothly. |
