Per silencer shop. NFA States (15) The NFA process still applies. Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin. State law still requires the Form 4 process here, and we handle the paperwork end to end same as always. |

It's just for specified semi-autos. Suppressors are neither specified nor semi-autos, therefore you don't have to take the class for them. Who told you differently? |

"Positive rights" are neither.

They mentioned CO statistics on gun deaths: 74% suicides, 25% Homicides, 1% Accidental/Unknown (estimates from memory, but I'm not far off). 45% of CO households have a firearm. That's all that stuck out to me. The instructor said that nobody has ever failed in one of his classes as of yet, and I believe it. I'd say most of us could hit the 80% mark cold with no class time. The test is designed to be passed. |

I was reading your reply as you taking the class first because you wanted to get a can and I was like "but he doesn't need it for a can" ![]() Tracking now!! FWIW, *EVERY* person who has come to the counter and asked what the "eligibility card" is on the AR (and related) section of the rack, has adamantly said they have no desire to get it because of the cost. a few have hinted (with careful words) at the temptation of simply picking up something a less-than-legal way. (no open admissions, just very pointed observations at the ease of doing so which a retired 1N4 had no difficulty in reading betwixt the lines) So it would seem the "safety" law has had a net effect at least where I am of increasing unlawful activity. Well done "elected" "leaders".

Another thing. You don't get a card. CPW emails you a certification. I'm not sure how it works, but the instructor said you don't need to present anything when you purchase a scary gun as you are "in the system", but the certificate tells you to present it upon purchase. IDK? |

I also have no desire to get a permit. But the fee is only a secondary concern. For me, it's the principle of the thing. As a private party, I simply refuse to bend the knee to the state and play along with their poll tax and permission slip scheme. Playing along just legitimizes an unconstitutional system. |

IDK? You need the Application Number from CPW, which you actually get in step 1 when you apply in the first place. That application number isn't "activated" in the system until you pass the test. The Sheriff issues a card (at least el paso does) but it doesn't actually do anything--the Application Number is the one that matters. Best practice is to have the email with your app number printed out and just provide it when doing the 4473 (info is added to block 29, without checking the 'in lieu of BGC' box). There's a website where a dealer enters the application number and i think first/last name of the individual, and the system returns a yes/no. It's been a few days since I looked at the verification portal so it may be slightly different info than that. |

You are doing exactly what they want you to do. You ARE bending the knee. You can no longer purchase whatever you want, but only what they now allow. I hate it too, but I’m not restricted in what I can buy. YMMV. This will probably be ruled unconstitutional, but nobody can guarantee that. In the meantime, we take the beating and keep moving forward. |

In the meantime, we take the beating and keep moving forward. I understand your point. If the goal of this law is to discourage people from buying these firearms, then refusing to get the permit does play into the state's hands to some extent. But I see "bending the knee" differently. Jumping through the state's new hoops and obtaining a permission slip to exercise a constitutional right is what I consider bending the knee. Fortunately, I bought what I wanted before the law took effect, including some things for future builds, so I'm in a position to simply refuse to participate. But I realize not everyone has that luxury. |

We had a guy do it all so he could report back to management about each step and his card has its own number, not his application number. Probably a product of that stellar guidance that was solidified before rushing to make the state safer.

But I suppose if it's gotta be the longer wait of the courts, at least it's getting worked on. |

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.
