Had some trouble with my septic system this past weekend and I had a company I used before come out to trouble shoot it. Turns out my leech field (turkey mound) has reached its end of life it's 33 years old. They said the tanks are fine and don't need to be replaced but my mound needs to be rebuilt. They jetted it to get it working again for now but told me it's on borrowed time so I need to start exploring replacement options. I'd like to use this company but we're currently at the tail end of their service area and they aren't sure if they want to bring their equipment out here to rebuild the mound. I guess tank clean outs is OK but actual construction is a hard sell for them. Does anyone know of any reasonable companies in or around Pike county who aren't going to charge me a ridiculous amount to rebuild a turkey mound? Thanks. |

@nyrifle I called Kobelein and they're a bunch of clowns. They quoted me $15k - $17k to repair not replace but repair my drain field. They said that they've actually done work at my house so I asked them what kind of work they performed. I was told they came out in February and April of 2021 and did the same exact repair they quoted me for. I said to him, "Let me get this straight, you want me to pay you $15 - $17k to come out here and put the same band aid on the system you put on it three years ago?" I'm sorry, I'm not paying $15 - $17k for a band aid if I'm going to pay five digits I'd rather them replace the mound, not patch it. Anyone else have any other suggestions? |

Sorry, I'm under a lot of stress between work and dealing with this septic. I'm not in the mood for someone to tell me he's going to charge me nearly $20k to do a repair that they did three years ago and it failed. My post was nothing against you, I was just wanted to give you an update. I've called two separate contractors now, one was ridiculously high and said they'd send me a quote, the other one said they'd send me a quote. Neither have actually followed through with sending quotes. |

Wednesday the 11th came and I got my estimate. I called them on Thursday after mulling it over and told them they had the job I just needed a few days to come up with the money. Today I went to my bank, took out a loan and gave M&S a down-payment. They're coming on October 7th to replace it. The original date they gave me was October 21st when I called, today they said they had October 7th open now. It'll take them 3 days to finish the job. M&S will likely keep my business now. |

i passed on a house because of the septic. our company did an inspection and the sellers realtor told us they wanted their own report. ok whatever. their guy says its all good good good fixed. so what was fixed ? it was not. and i knew it was a screw job. i asked for an invoice or work sheet what they 'fixed'... dont need that all good. i said go fuck yourself. you are full of shit. so i pulled the offer a second time , the people that jumped on the house stupidly waived all the inspections, and found out quickly the septic was fucked. 25 grand later that they didnt have and its not even 100%. nobody bends me over a barrel. ill walk away. even with her kicking and screaming she loves a certain house. |

The last house I bought the homeowners were playing games like that. I knew they were screwing about when I told them I was going to do my own inspection and they got mad. I ended up making them replace the entire septic system. This house was my fault, I forgot to have the septic inspected. I'm not mad though since I knew the age of the system. I knew it was going to need to be replaced. I was just hoping I'd get at least another year out of it. |

i was bummed out, i liked that house too. four acres etc. but the realtor from Easton thought she had me by my balls. and i said nope. i didnt crap in the septic for the last 40 years. they did. i was ok with it needing to be fixed in a few years. but it was shot. they knew it, and i knew it. its the septic game. no one wants to be the last one holding the repair bill. |

They were extremely professional, let me kind of hangout with them and watch them work. They answered all of my questions. They even explained how the drain field works and even showed me how it worked before they covered everything up. They had extra dirt and stone that they used to partially flatten out my front yard and then they spread the stone out into a path to my front door. It's not a neat path or anything but they tried to make it decent. I have plans on cleaning it up a bit more and making it look nicer. They are supposed to return in a few days to install a riser on my solids tank but if they don't I'll just cover it back up. In total it was closer to $14k. As for what caused my mound to fail? Trees. There were a metric fuckton of roots in it. I need to find someone who can drop 3 to 4 trees in my backyard. I don't need them to be taken away but if they could cut them up into rounds that'd be great. |
| I wish you the best. My leech field was a little more wet this spring. It dried up fine throughout summer and I know we had a ton of rain at the start. Being in washington county I'll be stuck with a 20k-ish quote as well. The previous owner who is now deceased redid it himself and I'm sure I'll be on borrowed time with my field. As far as my grandfather up in tioga county, he perked his and had all new tanks and dosing mound done for 14k. People up there really take care of each other |

We have property up in Pike County and just needed them dropped and sectioned into rounds. He came recommended by many people in our development. I didn't even have to be there for him to do the work. He was very reasonably priced. |
