Nashville's elections for city office do not allow candidates to be identified by party affiliation, there are no primaries to select party candidates, and it's my understanding that the political parties are not allowed to campaign for candidates that they support or against candidates that they oppose. After a Nashville councilman publicly called for an audit of the charity that was set up to aid Hispanics that had been impacted by the ICE operations in Nashville, to determine if any federal or state funds were used to support illegal activity (endangering the city's ability to get grants in the future), the democrat party decided to send people door to door in the councilman's district and hand out flyers essentially saying that the councilman has to go. Wouldn't this be a violation of the city's rules against the political parties campaigning directly for or against a candidate, or is my understanding of the rules incorrect? Yes, I know that in the real world, the rules are there for republicans to follow, while the democrats can do whatever they want. This was illustrated by the Nashville mayor's recent actions of calling out the Trump administration for violating legal rules that only exist in the minds of leftists, then trying to put plans into action that the head of metro's legal department admitted a day or two later would result in somebody facing federal criminal charges if they actually did that. ETA: Councilman David Benton of district 28, if I'm not mistaken. |

| If the republican party sent people out door to door to convince people that Nashville's Mayor nitwit needed to go....I don't see a problem. It is not currently an election year. I think if it were an election year it may be different. But really they would claim they were not campaigning they were protesting. Don't get we wrong, these Nashville libs can burn for all I care. |

And now there seems to be more council members upset with Mayor O'Connell, after learning that the Boring Company had contacted his office before they had the vote on funding the mayor's transit plan, but the mayor apparently didn't tell the council that there had been a proposal for a privately funded tunnel between the airport and downtown Nashville. Since the mayor gave the cold shoulder to the Boring Company, they went to the state with a plan to use state land, leaving the council members with no real control over the project after they eventually heard about it. |
