| I watched a video by a realtor on YouTube where he was talking about moving to Idaho and what the vehicle laws are. He highlighted a bunch of rules about aftermarket off-road lights and stuff. I live over in Oregon and EVERYBODY has LED light bars on our roof and everywhere. Over here nobody cares. I've also seen several other posts about Idaho cops being super strict or something. If I come over to Idaho in a truck with off-road lights all over it am I going to get busted immediately? Loud exhaust, lift kits, big tires? |

Check out Idaho Statute title 49, chapter 9, vehicle requirements. There are bumper height, fender flares, mud flaps, muffler, and lighting requirements. Rookies on training are usually the ones that pull people over for vehicle requirement infractions for training purposes and usually don’t result in a ticket. ISP is a different story though… Don’t drive like an asshole and draw attention to yourself and you should be okay. A lot of vehicles in the treasure valley have LED light bars and such and unless your driving around at night, on a public roadway with them on, most cops won’t give two shits. |

I was stopped by a Bonner county sheriff (he made a no shit u turn to come back for me) because I didn’t have mud flaps on my stock height Ford truck one day. (Still don’t). It was an okay interaction that he used as a fishing expedition to see if there was anything serious he could snag me for. Tires out past your fender wells is another “vehicle infraction” that the state can use to go fishing if they have nothing better to do. Driving around in Fruitland and Weiser last weekend I got the impression that they use LEO as revenue generators and are looking for anything to make a stop. |

Weiser is one place I'm looking hard at moving to. It's hard to believe that in a place where it's legal to drive an ATV on the street that they can even talk about stuff like mud flaps. |

Lol, got pulled over once for too high of a bumper. I said "its within the legal limit". ( I had lowered the bumper two inches to prevent any issues). So I asked the officer to measure it. He was unable to measure the bumper height, no tape measure. I stated "Guess we are done here then", he got in his car and left.  For the most part, in 35 years here I haven't had any issues with them. |

It seems like half the vehicles driving around in bonner county have led lights/light bars on them. A lot use them at night too. If the stuff is against the law, it's not doing much to dissuade people, I don't really give any fucks about them, unless they're aimed obnoxiously or they're mounted high up on the vehicle behind me. |

I don't see them often, but if I had to guess it comes down to don't be an idiot and there won't be an issue. I.e., don't run them on the highway or highly traveled road, and you won't run into issues. |

Rt. 95 (7th st East) is 35 mph from the Weiser River bridge to Park St. Just past that its 45. I've been pulled over a couple of times, the cops have been pretty chill, no citation although once he certainly could have (burned out tail lights). 'Course, I'm an old guy, maybe that had something to do with it. And it may have been a fishing expedition, too. |
