My brother passed away last year. He was divorced, had no kids and had a will naming me as the executor. Was able to get a wet copy of the will and filed it with the county last year. Will names my sisters and me as equal beneficiaries or whatever the term is for that, and they are cool with me being the one to handle the money. Remaining assets are a bank account and he had a condo foreclosed where I'm pretty sure some money is being held in escrow for him. He had some beef with the HOA, so I think they took legal action against him. The mortgage company hinted that there is some money, but they wouldn't give me any details until I became either have letters of administration or letters of testamentary (or whatever that is called) My question is do I need to file anything other than the file GPCSF-5 Petition to Probate Will in Solemn Form? |
| I suggest you hire an estate attorney or at least an attorney familiar with estate law. The Probate Court in Cobb County practically ignored me when I was trying to file a few things related to my dad's estate. Once I hired an attorney it sailed right through and I felt better about having it done correctly. It was well worth the money. |
