I despise Wilson and Graham.  I refuse to vote for either of them, but I also can't vote for a democrat.

Who are the Christian conservatives running against these two oxygen thieves?

Mark Lynch is who you are probably asking about.  He definitely looks better on paper than Graham, but I don't know anything else about him other than what I've read.  Hopefully some folks here know him and can chime in.

The liberal democrat woman who's running is Annie Andrews- she sounds like a horrendous candidate, but we have an increasing number of retards in this state who are hell bent on destroying it so she's probably a serious threat at this point.

In the years since her House run, Andrews stepped away from her practice at the Medical University of South Carolina and founded a political organization focused on issues related to children, including climate change, gun violence and childhood poverty. According to federal filings, an affiliated political action committee, Their Future PAC, gave $7,000 to a handful of candidates in the 2024 cycle and had about $5,000 on hand at the end of 2024.

I'm not voting for a liberal. Or a democrat. Or a liberal democrat. Or Graham, who hasn't had a thought since McCain died and he had no one to tell him what to think.

I guess it's Mark Lynch then.

Andrews ran against Nancy Mace for District 1 rep last go around, 56.5% to 42.5% was the vote total. Andrews has all of the liberal white women voting for her which wasn't enough to give her a W here in Charleston. I doubt she's a contender for her majesty Graham's seat but it's something to keep an eye on. She gives off Spanberger vibes which doesn't bode well for SC if she were ever to take any office.

Mark Lynch is getting my vote as of now.

On the gov side, I like Reddy. I would much prefer a successful businessman run the state over a politician. Rom has shown himself to be adept at standing his ground and he is saying a lot of the right things. I also see him at church every Sunday so that helps his case

Rom Reddy got a bunch of unfavorable press recently in Charleston. He built his big mansion on the beach at Isle of Palms and put in some structures without any approvals to protect his house but will cause more damage to adjacent houses. He has been fighting it in the courts.

He presents himself as the guy that wants to fight big government, but seems to act like the rules don’t apply to me.

Big talking point is how many want to eliminate the state income tax. No one is saying what taxes they will increase or new taxes enacted to make up for the lost revenue.

I knew nothing about the guy other than he seems a bit odd in his ads, can't quite put my finger on why.  His site has a bunch of talk about using AI to limit government and the bit about his beach house smells kinda funny too.  He says "longtime SC resident" but a quick google search doesn't say where he's actually from.

As others have said, I wish Mace, along with Miss Graham and quite a few others, would just disappear from SC politics.  Open an ice cream store or something, just leave politics.

Sure they have . They want pure sales tax revenue. Personally, with the tax breaks you get as a senior, and the aging of the population in general, they want to get everyone back into the tax pool. Not to mention the unemployed or being an overall low income state they claim it as a win for “everyone” but it isn’t. I am against.

No redistricting for us (Newsmax):
The Republican push for South Carolina to join the national redistricting battle by redrawing its U.S. House map fizzled Tuesday as an initial vote in the state Senate fell short.

President Donald Trump had urged South Carolina to redraw its congressional districts ahead of the November elections in an attempt to help Republicans win another seat in the closely divided chamber. The state House had voted in favor of letting lawmakers return after the regular session ends this week to consider redistricting, and had proposed a new map that could eliminate the state’s only Democratic-held seat.

But the Senate had to give permission to take up redistricting, too.

The 29-17 vote failed, with just two votes short of the two-thirds needed. Five Republicans joined all the Democrats in the chamber to reject the proposal.

Trump said on social media Monday that he was closely watching the redistricting vote, urging South Carolina senators to “be bold and courageous” and to delay the House primaries so new districts can be drawn.

Although Republicans have a supermajority in the chamber, some GOP senators weren’t sure the proposed map would guarantee the party could unseat longtime Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn. They also said it could push enough Democrats into other districts to backfire, resulting in a 5-2 or even a 4-3 Republican split.

Republican Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey acknowledged the pressure from Trump, but said he doesn't like being asked to bend to someone’s will instead of doing what’s best for his state.

“I got too much Southern in my blood,” Massey said. “I’ve got too much resistance in my heritage.”Collins from Columbia, South Carolina, and Lieb from Jefferson City, Missouri.

People said similar things about BMW and now they make more Bimmers than anywhere else in the world.

But, yeah, Blythwood is ruined. It was a great place that was under the radar, for a long time. It’s a shame to see what it’s turning into. It can take 15-20 minutes to get through the red light in the mornings. Richland County approving housing developments isn’t helping that.

Rightly, or wrongly, the truth is that the General Assembly runs South Carolina. IMHO, Reddy isn’t equipped to deal with those folks.

I didn't know you lived in Scout-hood too.

The new neighborhoods is a double edged sword for me.  The more houses they build, the more houses I can appraise, and that's money in my pocket.  But that also creates a more miserable existence here in Scout-hood.  However, since Pugh has been approving every scrap of land becoming another slash and burn neighborhood with 10 houses to the acre, I'm voting against him too.  And I've been very vocal about his incompetence to him directly and other members of council.

I don’t live there. But, I go through there a lot for work and for other things. I completely agree with you about Blythewood. It’s almost like it was a secret fishing spot and now it hosts a Bassmaster tournament. They are currently building a dozen or more houses on an area that used to be a hunting club.

It’s not just Blythewood though. I own some property in Georgetown and they just built a 2000 acre monstrosity of a solar fam in the back yard. Berkeley County is also out of control. There’s hundreds of homes being build adjacent to the National forest.
I’m not a fan of all of this “progress.”

I will say that more land has been added to nature conservancies and trusts under the McMaster administration than at any other time in recent history. He has also expanded a couple of state parks. The Governor is  about as environmentally friendly as a person could be, without being a hippy. The down side of being a “business friendly” state is that it causes growth. Im sure that you’ve seen that SC is the fasted growing state in the country. Like you said, it’s “double edged.”

All of the political ads, which rarely even contain the candidate's party affiliation, are essentially all smear campaigns with no substance.  Has anyone found or have a ranking of the candidates on actual issues?  Obviously that woman pediatrician out of Charleston is anti 2nd, but where do the others stand on the 2nd, immigration, crime, etc.  Our elections are to the point of ludicrousness and completely lacking in substance- although to be fair, a good portion of our population now seems to be from other states and have brought their failed ideas with them and we have a lot of home grown idiots who lack basic logic skills.

I'd like to put together a list of candidates who I don't want to vote for- since that seems to be what our elections have become, voting against someone vs selecting someone who actually represents the people's wishes and more importantly, will work to the ends instead of self enrichment.

I called it though, Graham vs the woman who felt the need to start her own anti gun organization.  Once again retarded South Carolinians who can't get their heads out of the sand are going to force me to vote for that POS to try to keep someone who looks a whole lot worse out of office.  I'm trying to remind myself that at least he occasionally gets something right (it's not working, I can't stand that bastard) and I don't trust anyone who doesn't understand the 2nd and wants to restrict it in any way.

We have so many people here who shouldn't even be allowed to vote- there needs to be a quick, simple civics quiz before being allowed to vote and if you can't answer basic questions, go away.

Like a Form 4473 and NICS check to exercise that other pesky right.
If you're not confused, you're not paying attention.

I'm fine with repealing the 19th if that's more palatable to you.

ETA- I don't know what the answer is, and yes, I get the point you're making, but something has to change.  I wish there were easy answers, but the system we have now is completely broken for many reasons.

It's earlier than the 19th.  IDGAF about skin color and/or gender plumbing, but own or pay mortgage (not rent) on real property.

Feel the tax hate for what's voted for.

Well, the bright side is my oldest son is eligible to vote for the runoff.  That's nice!
