We might be taking a trip to the Aulani Resort with friends in December. Any thoughts about the resort itself? The area? Water temp that time of year? Will I get eaten by a Great White if I go in the water? Any must-do's off of the resort itself? I would love to visit Pearl Harbor. I think I'm going to binge Magnum, PI now. Thanks for any advice! |

My family stayed there. They liked it. I haven't been there. The only thing I can say. If it is a Disney property they want you spend money there. You're going to be the opposite side of Pearl. So, morning and afternoon commute traffic might be hellish. The last deadly shark attack was in Maui like 12 years ago. Your chances of being eaten by a shark is low. |

Are you able to offer any sort of comparison? And I was *mostly* kidding about the sharks... |

Unlike Florida where it seems like even waist-deep is risky. But I've never checked any stats on that. |

I've heard Aulani is pretty good but keep in mind you are in a semi remote part of the island and will face traffic issues if you decide to drive anywhere. Definitely do Pearl Harbor and the Missouri and the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island. For a real treat, take a trip over the mountains to Kailua and have dinner at Buzz's Steak House in Lanikai. |

Our trip to your beautiful state was amazing. The resort was very nice, and I appreciated the relatively remote location. We only went into Honolulu once, really, after we hiked Diamond Head, for some well-known donut shop (can't remember the name). Pearl Harbor and the Missouri were as incredible as I've heard they would be. Sadly, we did not have time for the aviation museum. Several day trips to the North Shore involved ebike tours, snorkling, and food trucks. For a Wisconsin guy, it was an amazing feeling to be swimming in the Pacific. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. |
