Not much action in the Travel forum. Let's try the HTF. We want to go to Hawaii next June for my kid's senior trip and our 25th anniversary. May be taking the in-laws along (early 70s). 7-10 days not including travel. Not sure which island. Some wants: Cultural experiences (maybe an island tour) Deep sea fishing (is off the shore an option?) Volcano activity Light hiking to see scenery and waterfalls Snorkeling Beaches Other fun activities like zip lines, tours, etc. Maybe Pearl Harbor (which would mean Oahu) If the in-laws come we will most likely rent a place and a car to get around. Found a new condo on the beach between Kapalua and Napili-Honokowai on Maui. Good spot? |

I can help you with Pearl Harbor. Most people who come want to go out to the USS Arizona Memorial. Since the Memorial is in the middle of the Harbor, the only way to get there is by the boats run by the national park service. You need to make a reservation for a boat ticket at recreation.gov or you will have to just wait in a standby line in the visitor center. The boat tickets on recreation.gov are only $1.00 each and this is the ONLY place to get them. The other sites are the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, USS Missouri Battleship Museum, and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. You can buy those admission tickets onsite in the visitors center or at pearlharborhistoricsites.org. Those never run out but the boat tickets run out daily. |
