So, to clarify, any "no guns" signs on private property carries force of law? Apparently they don't need to give you warning to leave, you can be charged on the spot. |

It's true that you can't legally carry at the post office. However, the signs I've seen there are in reference to robbing a postal employee...they just use a big revolver on the sign.
As for the private property I've always seen it broken to essentially defiant/criminal trespassing...NOT a firearm/carrying violation of any kind. In other words if you are asked to leave...due to having a gun...you have to leave. The same as if you said something to offend the property owner or pretty much for any other reason. You MUST leave or they can press charges for defiant trespassing. Interesting one is the casino ban in PA. I dug a little deeper and at the end of the day it's still just a defiant trespass issue. Basically it says you need specific permission from the gaming board and/or casino owner...something like that...just to carry and that if you are caught without such permission you will be prosecuted if you don't leave. I'm sure someone somewhere along the way lobbied to have it actually illegal to carry there just like a gov. building or primary education school but they didn't get it. Instead it's a "ban" that is the same as any other property you don't own in that you can only be asked to leave and if you refuse you are trespassing. Now someone correct me with some proof if I'm wrong here. But I got a lot of my info from a county judge who was my professor at the time. He actually interpreted the law for me right there in class one night!! He's still a judge in Lehigh County I believe. -Emt1581 |

| So my friend and I are headed up to Hershey from Northern Virginia to visit somebody. I have a VA CCW, so I assume I'm good in PA. My friend doesn't have a CCW, but wants to open carry. From what I can tell, there won't be any issues. Can one of you confirm this? Thanks! |

Open Carry Info PAFOA has good info in regards to Open Carry; which is lawful in PA. I would take a second and read and maybe follow up with a little research of my own. Have a safe trip! |

Remember the Elementary School in New Holland that was directly across the street from a Fun Store? I couldn't think of a safer location for a school to be. The Fun Store is now a Class III Establishment and the school house has been demolished for a couple of years now.
