Has anyone been cited for slightly violating the 12 inch longest dimension rule for open/concealed carry? My Ruger Super Single Six 22 with the 6.5 inch barrel is about 1/2 over the limit. So technically, it's too long for carry except during hunting season. Do I carry it anyway or come up with the money for a 5.5 inch version. Or is this a rule that's only enforced in conjunction with other charges and no worry? |

You can open carry a weapon over 12 inches, as the definition of a concealable weapon is any weapon over 12" in length. So for instance, you can open carry an AR Pistol, but you cannot conceal it, because it does not meet the definition of a concealable weapon. So you can open carry your hog leg in a holster, just don't wear a jacket that will partially or fully conceal. If you have a CWP, then you don't have some of the restrictions that the constitutional carry has. |
