Why would anyone do that? I was born and raised here and don't even want to be here but the money is good cause of the refineries. Whoever told her this is a nice place is either an idiot or fucking with her. The entire area is disgusting. Beaumont and Port Arthur have ridiculous crime. Mid county thinks they don't but are either blind or in denial. Those three cities also suck ass. Nothing to do either. Unless you like outdoors type stuff. Which I am ok with. Can't imagine a mid twenties woman would feel the same way. Unless she's aiming to be a Port Neches refinery Trophy Wife with a cocaine and or Xanax addiction, then I would probably stay away. Oh you wanted some good. The food is pretty good. We have legit Mexican food and the Cajun food is good. Fresh seafood. Ummm. Some other good. Were have two pretty good gun clubs with lots of match shooting. Ummm .lets see. Some ok gunshops. Some decent hiking trails. Kayaking is good too in the backwaters. Okayish waterfowl hunting. Fishing is top notch if you know what you're doing. If you like drugs, I hear Nederland's heroin is the best this side of AStan. |

Everyone there wears perfume. Eau De Burning Tire. I got bitten by some kind of big biting fly. It was like someone pinched me with needle nose pliers. I proceeded to swat at it, which only enraged it more. I was about 26 at the time and decided to run for it, ran about 100 yards, damn thing stayed with me. I finally had to get in the truck, watched the thing bounce off the glass. I might consider going back in the winter to go alligator hunting or duck hunting, but otherwise, fuck living there. |

Because it could be an improvement coming from say, anywhere in NEW YORK. Just sayin to keep it relative. But generally I dont see a reason for a 25 year old to move to that area unless they want to work for what would be unsuitable for her. |

The marsh is oddly beautiful. I haven't hunted in a while. But I use to just take my boat and cruise around Taylor's, Big Hill, Shallow Prong and Blind Lake. Never cared much for the south of ICC side of Murphee. I hunted on those days but it just didn't have the same appeal to me as north of ICC. My lease and camp was off Shallow Prong. Spent many hours out there. |

Did they ever find black bear down there? They took me to an area near the Louisiana border where they had numerous sightings of a black bear. At the time, they couldn't verify any sightings. Probably enough food and cover down there to support it. Not sure how it would co-exist with alligators. |

| I was was born and raised in Beaumont and left in 2003 for college. Went back through in 2013 and thought to myself "was it always this bad or did it get worse?" I've only been back 2 times sense then and besides the food, don't have much of a desire to go again. |
