Just completed the first of a 4 day class. The class is held once a week every Saturday this Month. So far it’s exceeding my expectations. This is my first course since I attended a 1 day class about 20 years ago. The school provided all the tools and all the parts needed to make a AR 15. We were partnered op with only one other student. This allowed us to watch and help each other. Most groups were glad to have a partner to help find that detent pin or pesky roll pin that hit the deck. The best part of the class is that it was geared toward all students and everyone was welcome. All moch attitudes were left in the parking lot, everyone was there to learn… The only stupid question was the one that was not asked. Our instructor Nate was very detailed and was very knowledgeable and had great teaching skills. The class had about 20 students with 10 AR’s and bench setups. The cost was $249. An outstanding deal to me. We were allowed to bring our own tools and several people did. I brought mine but decided to go with the flow. I have several different receiver blocks but never tried the Magpul one, I really liked it. One item that I went to the truck to get was a slave pin for the trigger group. Day one covered the following AR-15 history and development Review of all parts and different types that are commonly encountered Review of the tools and alternative tools that would also work How to assemble the lower Hands on assembly and disassemble the lower done twice taking turns with your partner. What made this class so great is that I didn’t have to be with a LE agency which most classes require. Also the college was offering many trades training courses. For example they had nurses classes going on just a few doors down. I’m thinking about signing up for the mig welding class next. Stay tuned for topics from week 2 Attached File |
