I'd love to get into hunting..either bow or rifle. I've been around firearms my whole life and shot a bow for about a year but it's been awhile. I'v never known anyone who actively hunts. Are there any good clubs or places to start? I live in the upstate |

I was in a very similar situation to you a few years ago. This may or may not work for you but I did a membership for a year at this place: https://poulossportsmanclub.com/ It wasn't cheap but it was a great place to start for someone like me not originally from the area and new to hunting. I ended up getting some land of my own but I really liked this place...it's huge. The owners were really nice as were the members who were very helpful for a new hunter. |

as a very experienced hunter who moved here to the upstate 10 years ago.. I have not hunted since moving here. I have a few friends down 26 in Orangeburg and St. Mathews area that have invited me to hunt their land, but I could never justify the ride for a few hours of hunting. I have yet to find a friend who will let me hunt some upstate property. As a long time hunter from 12 to 60... I have not and never will hunt state land, that's just me, but you do you and check it out. most in the upstate are secretive of their hunting or fishing spots... and I don't blame them. |

Nothing about joining a club for a year at a time or so. I spent this past season out in the wma’s. Probably going to do the same next year with a climbing stand. |

That’s funny because Soggy Bottom is the name of the place I hunt at. My friend has property in Colleton County near the Edisto and it’s half wetlands and woods. One more thing to mention. Along the coast they have dog clubs and still hunting deer clubs. I think the upstate is mostly still hunting. |

I mean if they have a lake you could go out on. Trails for sxs’s, dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, full bar, ect. Might be worth it. |
