An attorney from upstate ny filed Daughtry v james attempting to rein in or get rid of the permitting process all together. It will be interesting to see how this progresses. Amazing. IMHO it's only a short-ish matter of time before the ridiculous NY permit scheme is declared unconstitutional. Literally it does NOTHING that an instant NICS check wouldn't do. Yet it takes 12+ months to get the permit...and 2-3 weeks wait every time you buy a new handgun. Bullshit. It only serves to discourage the law abiding from owning handguns (and semi auto rifles now). Fuck you NY. We are coming for your bullshit laws. |

All the pro-gun people I know in NY voted, and we all voted the same, and for the most part we lost. For decades. People like to blame NY gun owners for not voting, but remember many gun owners are fudds, and the rest are overwhelmed by the FSA. Thinking NY can vote its way out of the mess the left made is ignoring the problem. |

I voted- with my feet- I respect those still fighting the good fight in NY, but moving somewhere your 2A rights are recognized and respected is the way to go. Sort of like a military force retreating to a more defensible position. The safe act was my writing on the wall, and things have gotten so much worse since. We all know the playbook, a NY statute gets struck down and the communists have an end around law ready to pass before the ink is dry on the decision, then the cycle stats all over again |
