We're currently looking at pre-owned boats and we're now down to the two final boats. We'll be looking at the last one this coming Saturday and then making a decision on which one we want to schedule a survey on. The boats are located in northern Ohio. One is in Columbia Station and the other is in Mentor. I'm looking for any recommendations for a trustworthy Marine Surveyor who can do a through pre-purchase inspection. Thanks in advance! |

Sorry, I only boat on the inland lakes. My advice, do your lake trials and ask to take it to the marina that reps that manufacturer for inspection. I don't know of a more qualified person than the manufacturers rep to check it out. |

The plan for the boat is mostly inland lakes but I also want the ability get on Lake Erie and Michigan for some exploring, fishing and island hopping. Nothing ridiculously far out in the middle of the lake. LOL I would be having them do an out of water survey/inspection first along with the engine compression testing. If the boat passes all the checks then a sea trial would be done. I am not a GD millionaire so the boats I am looking at are smaller, 20-22 ft Chaparral and Sea Ray cabin cruisers. LOL I looked at the Chaparral over the weekend and the boat and trailer were very clean and in great condition and appeared to be well maintained. I'll be looking at the Sea Ray this coming weekend. The pics of the Sea Ray looks clean and well maintained too. After seeing both the wife and I will decide which one we like better and schedule the survey for it. I am actually communicating with a several surveyors/inspectors but wanted to check with Arfcom to see there were any recommendations for that area. I actually live a couple hours away from in central Ohio. |

I found our last surveyor there, but unfortunately, he has retired since our last purchase that required a survey. Can't hurt to run your options through the forum, or even ask for new ones. |
