Looking for a shop that will order specific guns and take trades towards them. The new S&W Mountain guns are pretty awesome. I have a few guns that I just don't shoot anymore and need to go. |

In this current market you are better off selling the items yourself. Especially when looking at special order item that requires a dealer to outlay their cash. Frankly when people talk about doing this....they are wanting to dump some of their "dawgs" against a new shiny item. When trading in "dawgs" well you will end up taking quite a loss if they are even accepted. So many times people want a special item....and FAIL to tell the dealer that they want to trade in items until that item shows up at the dealer. Seen that fecal matter pulled more than once. To me special orders should be anchored with a non refundable cash down payment, and the clear expectation that balance due is cash or credit card plus 3%. |

Never call a shop and ask about potential value. You are wasting their time and yours! Bring it let the shop lay eyes on it. Bring all the boxes and paperwork. |

Sold off all my "Dawgs" long ago... rather get low balled at a shop willing to deal than waste my time with individuals. If anyone knows of a shop that would be interested in an Anschutz rifle and S&W Performance Center revolver, please let me know. I have other pre-lock Smiths and Vintage Colts that can go as well. |

Place take trades, but the guns have to have some demand so to speak otherwise it is dead inventory so to speak. Again the guns do the talking. If the OP is serious. Then he should take pictures and make a list. And then go talk with powers that be at shops and see if they have any interest in looking at the guns in person. If you have pictures...and description then you may well be able to gage their interest. The industry is slow right now. And, with the SHOT show going you might want to wait till next week as some of them might be out of town. If they are not "dawgs" consider selling on gun broker. Call Larry or Dave at the Gunstop there is local gun that sells on Gunbroker other people's guns that might be a way to divest of your stuff and generate cash? |

Gunstop in Minnetonka has always given me a very fair trade for firearms and has come through 100% of the time on special orders, including a nightmare of a fire drill to get a few revolvers shipped off to Bowen before he stopped taking orders. While soft spoken and certainly not much for conversation, Larry is a great man and gentleman. Now if you're looking to be completely insulted, stop in at Cabelas to sell a firearm. Report back the outcome. |

So many people fail miserably thinking just because they paid retail for a firearm that is what it is worth trading it in. A dealer can buy a new SKU from wholesaler for less money put in their display cabinet. The demand for a gun is very much a factor. Look at the current ghosts haunting the Sig 320. Look at the various generations of Glocks. The idea that self gunsmithed parts thinking it adds value, not. Customized guns with documentation by recognized shop can have added value. |

Consignment price should be attractive to move it. Consignment fees will put a dent in the asking price. Most places have sliding fee, plus CC fee if a credit card is used to pay for it |
