I recently moved from Virginia back to NC after having been away for about 30 yrs. and am interested in supporting a NC specific gun rights group. In VA we the Virginia Citizens Defense League which was very effective in fighting for and protecting Virginians’ gun rights. Is there a comparable group in NC folks recommend I join? I’ve found a couple when I search, but I don’t know which ones are legit and which aren’t. Lefties are so devious that they’ve started creating fake gun groups just to trick us into undermining our own rights. So, which group(s) would you recommend I join? Also, I became pretty familiar with Virginia gun laws, but feel rather ignorant bout NC gun laws. Is there a good source where I can educate myself on all the relevant laws as it relates to concealed carry, private sales, etc.? Thanks for all help you can provide. Finally, I’m happy to be back in my home state of NC after having been away for 30+ yrs. |

GRNC deserves all of the support they can get. They are constantly fighting to take back our gun rights, and have been very effective. Thanks to GRNC for: Concealed Handgun permit availability (Before 95 there was no legal option for ccw in NC) Inevitability of constitutional carry (it's just a matter of time) Repeal of the pistol purchase permit which allowed the Sheriff too much control in who was able to purchase a handgun Restaurant carry where alcohol is served And the big one for me personally, NFA item are legal as long as they are legal federally (on the registry). I'm sure I am leaving out a lot, but these are the highlights in my opinion. Joe |

GRNC is probably the most effective for NC gun rights advocacy. I'll toss another out here because they do some gun rights advocacy, but they do a lot for supporting junior marksmanship in the state of NC. North Carolina Rifle and Pistol Association. NCRPA sends NC juniors to the National Matches at Camp Perry. The other large NC Junior team, JMSG (Junior Marksmanship Support Group) joined with NCRPA, recently. https://m.facebook.com/JuniorMarksmanshipSupportGroup/ NCRPA also helps run and fund the awards for the NC State Highpower championships (Across the Course, Mid-Range and Long Range), typically run at Camp Butner and in conjunction with North State Shooting Club. https://northstateshootingclub.com/ NCRPA is more of a multi-mission organization vs. a strictly gun rights org., but it does do some. |
